Day Trip
You will be picked up in the morning at your hotel in Moshi and driven to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate (Marangu Gate, 1860m), a journey that takes approximately 1 hour. After completing the necessary registration at the gate, your trek will begin, and you’ll soon find yourself hiking through the dense Kilimanjaro rainforest.
As you walk, enjoy the impressive vegetation and keep an eye out for black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and various bird species. Your knowledgeable English-speaking guide will share fascinating information about Kilimanjaro and explain the different plant and animal species you encounter along the way. You may also meet climbers descending from the summit, who could share their experiences and inspire you to dream about a future climb.
After a 3-4 hour hike, you will reach Mandara Hut (2700m) for a well-deserved rest and lunch. Following that, your guide will take you on a short 15-minute hike to the Maundi Crater, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Northern Tanzania, and even Kenya. After soaking in the stunning vistas, you’ll return to the Marangu Gate (a 2-3 hour walk), where your vehicle will be waiting to transfer you back to your hotel. On the drive back, you can relax and reflect on the day’s memories, possibly catching a glimpse of a beautiful sunset.
