Shillong is the capital of Meghalaya, one of the smallest states in India and home to the Khasis. It is the headquarters of the East Khasi Hills district and is situated at an average altitude of 4,908 feet (1,496 m) above sea level, with the highest point being Shillong Peak at 6,449 feet (1,966 m). The city had a population of 314,610 according to the 2011 census. It is said that the rolling hills around the town reminded the European settlers of Scotland. Hence, Shillong is known as "Scotland of the East."

Get up early today to enjoy the mesmerizing mornings of Shillong and after breakfast at 07:30 A.M drive to Cherrapunjee (60 kms 1½hrs),
High above the hazy valleys and foaming rivers, hidden in the rolling clouds and perched on a headland lies Cherrapunji, 4,500 ft above the sea level. Cherrapunji in the north eastern state of Meghalaya is a spectacular location with the year-round rain. Long ago, Cherrapunji in Meghalaya had earned the coveted place in the Guinness Book of World for being the wettest place on the earth. This is one place all over the world, where the rainfall can be recorded in feet rather than in millimeters. It is a pleasant drive to see roaring waterfalls leaping into deep gorges, including the famed Nohsngithiang Falls. The beautiful waterfall-Nohkalikai is at Cherrapunjee. You can also explore some of the caves in and around Cherrapunjee.
Evening return to Shillong, en-route visit Elephanta falls and Shillong peak for some breathtaking views.

After breakfast today visit Don Bosco Monument, Ward’s Lake where you can enjoy boating, Botanical Garden and Lady Hydri Park. Proceed to Guwahati (100 kms 3 hrs).
Guwahati, the erstwhile capital of the state of Assam was earlier known as "Pragiyotishpura" (The Light of East). This city with a varied history dating back to the 6th century is also the most developed and important city of Assam.
Arrive and check in at hotel. Evening can visit 'Kalakshetra', a place where Assamese history and culture is presented through Light and sound show or take an evening cruise on the mighty river Brahmaputra. Return to hotel. Overnight stay at hotel
