Shira Gate (3600 m) To Simba Camp (3600 m)
Distance: 4 km / 2 miles
Trekking time: 1-2 hours

Pick up from your hotel in Moshi and drive to Shira gate to initiate the climb by completing all entrance formalities. Start hiking through the shrubs and giant heather where the trail takes you to Simba Camp. Spend the night at the camp in preparing for the next day.

Simba Camp (3600 m) To Shira 2 Camp (3850 m)
Distance: 6 km / 4 miles
Trekking time: 2 hours

An easy day where you explore the grassy moorland and volcanic rock formations on the beautiful Shira plateau. Proceed walking across Shira Cathedral, a huge buttress of rock surrounded by steep spires and pinnacles. The path finally leads to Shira 2 Camp. Have rest at the camp while waiting for dinner to be served.

Shira 2 Camp (3850 m) To Lava Tower (4630m) To Barranco Camp (3970)
Distance: 10 km / 6 miles
Trekking time: 6-8 hours
Zone: Alpine desert
Trek from the Shira Plateau through the ‘Garden of the Senecios’ while approaching Lava Tower meant for acclimatization. Have lunch at Lava tower and some rest before descending to Barranco Camp. Hot meal and sleep at the camp.

Barranco Camp (3900 m) to Karanga Camp (4000 m) To Barafu Camp (4673 m)
Distance: 9 km / 5.6 miles
Trekking time: 8-9 hours
Zone: Alpine desert
Spend another day acclimatizing to climb the Great Barranco Wall of 900 ft cliff. Take a walk across a series of hills and valleys into the Karanga Valley taking you to Karanga Camp for a lunch break. Trek through the rocky section to arrive at Barafu Camp. Have an early dinner and retire to bed by 7:00 in preparing for the final summit.

Ascend To The Summit
Distance: 18 km / 11.2 miles
Trekking time: 13- 15hours
Zone: Stone scree and ice-capped summit
Be awake by around 23:00 hours for a hot drink + snacks and putting on the necessary trekking gears. By torchlight, leave camp and start climbing through the volcanic scree to reach Stella Point (5685m) by sunrise. Spend some time resting and enjoying the view before making the final round trip to reach Uhuru peak (5895m). Take photographs at the summit while feeling accomplished standing at the highest point in Africa. Start descending down the mountain to finally reach Mweka hut in the evening.

Mweka Camp (3100 m) To Mweka Gate (1980 m)
Distance: 10 km / 6 miles
Trekking time: 3-4 hours
Zone: Rainforest
This is the last day that hikers go for a short walk, towards Mweka gate. Upon arrival, climbers get awarded. For those who reached Stella point receive green certificates while those who reached Uhuru peak receive golden certificates. Go for a drive back to the hotel for rest and much celebrations or to the airport for departure.
