Johannesburg – Hoedspruit, South Africa
Leaving Johannesburg, the biggest city in South Africa, we travel across the picturesque province of Mpumalanga, marvelling at the splendid mountainous landscapes. We make a stop at the massive Three Rondavels rock formations and delight in the fresh air and spectacular surrounds that overlook the Blyde River Canyon, as well as the Lowveld and Greater Kruger. Following lunch, we head to the famous Kruger Park and accommodation for the evening is a short 10km drive from the entrance gate to the Kruger National Park. We relax at the hotel for the evening and prepare for the next day.
Hoedspruit – Kruger National Park, South Africa
We awake early today and we board the 4×4 game viewing vehicles for us to set off on our adventure of game tracking with our experienced guide. The Kruger National Park boasts over 505 species of birds, 148 mammals and has plenty of reptiles to keep an eye out for. The reserve is also world-renowned due to its impressive atmosphere and amazing wildlife. We cool off at the rest camp during the midday heat. Here there are restaurants, souvenir stores and swimming pools. We return to our campsite in the late afternoon, after enjoying a full-bodied taste of Africa. We enjoy a satisfying dinner this evening while relaxing at the lodge.
Kruger National Park – Polokwane, South Africa
We awake to the early morning sounds of nature before enjoying breakfast in the Park. Our journey leads us over beautiful scenic passes and flourishing citrus farms along the valleys and mountains of Limpopo – known as an eco-tourism destination in Southern Africa. We enter Polokwane, exploring this fascinating area on foot. Here, we are able to get up close to the various species, of which there are 21 mammals (including white rhino) and 200 bird species. We spend the evening at a lodge nearby before heading off to the Great Limpopo River in Botswana the following day.
Polokwane – Bulawayo, Zimbabwe
Following a delicious breakfast, we head off on a new adventure, embarking on an enjoyable two-hour road trip north to the border where we cross into Zimbabwe where border formalities may take some time as it is the busiest land border however once it is completed we make our way to Bulawayo, a tranquil city with luscious trees and clear spaces. Accommodation this evening is situated just outside of town in a quiet garden setting, should time allow, feel free to explore the city of Zimbabwe. The following day we pay a visit to a geological and natural heritage site.
Bulawayo – Matobo National Park, Zimbabwe
After a good night’s sleep, starting the day early we jump into a 4×4 vehicle for a game drive into the Matobo National Park. Situated just a brief distance outside of Bulawayo lies the Matobos National Park where you will be led by an expert guide through the stunning reserve. The Matobo Hills are sculpted by the strong winds in the area and are the site of various exquisite Bushman paintings. This place contains an exceptional cultural and spiritual significance to the indigenous people who populating this region. The park has a large concentration of Black and White Rhino and if conditions are suitable, you embark on a guided walk in search of these animals. This reserve also contains the highest population of leopard and black eagle in the world, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for these magnificent animals. We also try our best to spot giraffe, zebra, and ostrich, as well as a wide assortment of antelope and buck species.
Bulawayo – Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Departing from Bulawayo, we make our way to Victoria Falls. Upon arrival, you will briefed with the following adventures and excursions available to you for the next day. We pay a visit to the Victoria Falls in the afternoon and at various times of the year, the spray from this mighty waterfall can be seen from up to 30 kilometres away, hence the local name Mosi Oa Tunya meaning ‘the smoke that thunders’. Enjoy a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River before making your way back to camp for the evening.
