Gorakhnath Temple, also known by the name of Gorakhnath Matth, is a holy site in Gorakhpur. It is the temple of the Nath monastic group and derives its name from the name of a famous yogi, Gorakhnath. It is said that Yogi Gorakhnath was an incarnation of Lord Shiva. His idol is placed inside Gorakhnath Temple and is worshiped by the monks and locals. The present-day chief priest of the matth is Yogi Adiyanath.
