TK Ethical Elephant Sanctuary was founded from a deep love and respect for elephants. Our founder has **more than 10 years of experience working closely with elephants**, observing their behaviour, personalities, individual needs and daily lives. Over the years, this experience developed into something more than a profession. It became a responsibility and a dream — to create a place where elephants could be cared for with greater respect, compassion and understanding. The sanctuary was established in **2026** with a clear purpose: > **To create a safe, respectful and meaningful environment where elephants can live with dignity while visitors learn what responsible elephant tourism truly means.** Our work is also connected to the wellbeing of elephant caretakers and local communities. By creating responsible tourism opportunities, we aim to support people whose livelihoods are connected to elephants while encouraging a more sustainable future. --- # Our Ethical Commitment At TK Ethical Elephant Sanctuary, we believe elephants should never be treated as performers. Our approach focuses on **care, observation, education and positive relationships**. ### No Elephant Riding We do **not offer elephant riding**. ### No Performances We do not force elephants to perform unnatural tricks or entertainment for visitors. ### Respect Natural Behaviour Guests are encouraged to observe elephants and learn about their personalities and natural behaviours. ### Positive Care Visitors may participate in appropriate care activities such as preparing food, making healthy treats, cutting fresh grass and helping maintain the elephants' environment under staff guidance. ### Professional Care We work with experienced elephant-care personnel and trained veterinary assistants to support daily health monitoring and responsible welfare practices. Our goal is simple: **Care for the elephants first. The visitor experience comes second.** --- # The Sanctuary Environment TK Ethical Elephant Sanctuary is designed around the needs of the elephants rather than traditional entertainment facilities. The sanctuary provides open spaces where elephants can move, rest and behave naturally. The surrounding environment includes: - Open natural areas - Green forest surroundings - Water sources - Resting areas - Natural walking spaces - Safe spaces for elephants to interact and explore Rather than focusing on elaborate architecture, our sanctuary places greater importance on creating a peaceful and natural environment. --- # Things to Experience at TK Ethical Elephant Sanctuary ## Prepare Nutritious Food Learn how to prepare healthy food for elephants and understand how nutrition contributes to their wellbeing. ## Make Healthy Herbal Treats Prepare herbal vitamin balls and healthy treats as part of our positive-care activities. ## Feed the Elephants Under staff guidance, guests can offer appropriate food while learning how to interact safely and respectfully. ## Observe Natural Elephant Behaviour Instead of watching performances, take time to observe elephants being elephants — walking, eating, resting, socialising and expressing their individual personalities. ## Learn the Mahout Way of Life Discover the traditional knowledge, responsibility and daily care involved in looking after elephants. Our philosophy is: **Mahouts are Guardians, Not Owners.** ## Care for Their Environment Guests may participate in simple activities that support the elephants' living environment, such as collecting fresh grass and helping maintain their habitat. ## Learn About Elephant Health Discover how daily observation and basic health checks help identify changes in an elephant's condition. ## Mindful Meditation Take a peaceful moment away from the noise and pressure of everyday life through guided meditation surrounded by nature. ## Traditional Thai Herbal Steam Relax and restore your body with a traditional Thai herbal steam experience using locally sourced herbs and traditional wellness knowledge. ## Community Connection Selected programmes also include opportunities to visit a local temple and participate in meaningful community activities. ## Bua Tong Sticky Waterfall Full-day guests can enjoy a visit to the unique **Bua Tong Sticky Waterfall**, surrounded by the natural beauty of Northern Thailand. # Photography & Respectful Interaction Photography is welcome, but elephant welfare always comes first. Guests are encouraged to: - Keep a respectful distance - Follow staff instructions - Avoid sudden movements - Avoid using flash photography - Never chase, corner or disturb an elephant - Allow elephants to decide when they want to move away The best photograph is one captured without disturbing the animal. # Visitor Information & Helpful Tips TK Ethical Elephant Sanctuary is a relatively new sanctuary, officially established in **2026**. Because we are still growing, our sanctuary offers a more intimate atmosphere for visitors who value **peace, privacy and meaningful experiences**. Our elephants have been brought into our care from situations where they were exposed to exploitation connected to tourism and other forms of human use. Important Things to Know **No Elephant Riding** We do not provide elephant riding because our priority is elephant welfare and a low-stress environment. **No Forced Performances** We do not train elephants to perform unnatural entertainment for visitors. **Respect the Elephants** Elephants are large, intelligent and sensitive animals. Guests must always follow the instructions of our elephant-care team. **Stay Calm** Do not approach an elephant suddenly or aggressively. Calm and respectful behaviour is essential when sharing space with elephants. **Dress Comfortably** Comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes are recommended because some areas may have uneven or natural terrain. **Sun Protection** We recommend bringing sunscreen, a hat and drinking water, particularly during the hot season. **Insect Protection** Insect repellent may be useful when spending time outdoors in nature. # What Your Visit Supports Your visit is more than a day trip. Responsible tourism can help support: **Elephant Welfare** Providing food, care, health monitoring and a better quality of life. **Local People** Creating meaningful tourism-related opportunities for elephant caretakers and community members. **Conservation** Encouraging greater awareness of elephants, forests and responsible tourism. **Community** Supporting local livelihoods and preserving meaningful Thai traditions and local knowledge. # More Than a Visit — A Meaningful Experience At TK Ethical Elephant Sanctuary, we invite you to slow down, learn something meaningful and experience Thailand from a different perspective. **Care for the elephants.
