The Dalai Lama gave him a painting of the goddess Palden Lhamo to be kept in the monastery. The 8 m high gilded statue of Lord Buddha dominates the sanctum. Also, visit Urgelling Monastery - the birthplace of the Sixth Dalia Lama.
