It is believed to be the abode of 'Nag Devta' or snake god, from which it borrows the first part of its name; 'Tibba' is a local word for hill or peak. Local villagers come here to offer their prayers to Nag Devta for the protection of their cattle. This place is frequented by trekkers and adventure lovers for its scenic beauty and elevation of 3048m. Winters are chilly and summers are pleasant, making it an attractive place for camping.

Nag Tibba 3,022 metres (9,915 ft), is the highest peak in the lesser himalayan region of Uttarakhand state (Garhwal Division), and lends its name to the 'Nag Tibba Range', itself the next-northerly of the five folds of the Himalaya. It is situated 16 km (9.9 mi) away from Landour cantonment, and around 57 km from Mussoorie in Tehri Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. The 'Nag Tibba Range' is amongst three principal ranges of the Lesser Himalayas, which includes the Dhauladhar, and the Pir Panjal, which branched off from the Great Himalayas.

Day wise Itinerary

Day 1

DRIVE TO PANTWARI& TREK TO NAG MANDIR CAMPSITE (5.5 KMS APPROX.)

Reporting time at Dehradun bus stand is 07:00 AM . Drive to Pantwari .We will reach Pantwari( starting point of trek) at 10 AM Approx. Freshening up & Breakfast will be in a hotel on the way to Pantwari. From Pantwari Start trekking to the base of Nag Tibba summit with packed lunch. The trek is uphill & will take 4 to 5 Hrs.We will stop enroute for lunch. After reaching the base by the late afternoon we will setup camps. Explore the surrounding area, take pictures, and have loads of fun this night. True to the spirit of refreshment, the bash tonight would be something to look forward to.

Day 2

NAG MANDIR CAMPSITE TO NAG TIBBA SUMMIT-BASE CAMP-RETURN TO DEHRADUN

Wake up to the sound of chirping birds in your ear. Enjoy the morning views of first light falling on the high mountain peaks all around. After Breakfast head for Nag Tibba Summit with packed lunch.From top of the summit enjoy the views of the snow clad mountain ranges of Garhwal and Himachal. You will get to see the famous Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, Srikanth, Black peak and many more peaks from here. Have lunch on the summit. Spend some time & start return to the Base camps. Leave for Dehradun by afternoon and reach Dehradun by evening.

WHAT TO TAKE

Backpack (50 to 60 liters) A strongly built backpack with good support is compulsory for a trek. (Rain cover is important)
Sturdy Trekking Shoes The shoes should be strong enough with good support. The people ask if sports shoes would be comfortable but it is good to bring the right trekking shoes.
The Clothes You Should Bring On a Trek Avoid keeping extra clothes because it only makes you backpack heavy.
Trek Pants – The jeans are never suitable for a trek so you need at least 2-3 trek pants for treks carry more for longer treks.
Jacket – Jackets are very important to carry on a trek it protects you against the chilly weather. So carry 2 jackets on a week long trek.
Layers of warm Clothing Carry warm woolen layers or fleece. Carry more layers during winter season (at least 2 to 3) and less during summer.
Thermals – The Temperature decreases at night so you might be need thermals for Night.
T- Shirts – Bring those t shirts which dry fast.
Poncho –They are needed if you are trekking on a Rainy day to keep you dry.
