Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Arrival

You will be met at Victoria Falls Airport and transferred to your hotel near the mighty Zambezi River.

Check in, settle in and relax whilst you catch your first glimpses of the magnificent Smoke That Thunders first discovered by Dr. David Livingstone and still one of the greatest natural wonders of the world. The flow of water over the Victoria Falls is greatest from February to June following the summer rains, but they are a magnificent sight at any time of year.

  • Day 2 : Botswana

Today take a shared 2-hour transfer to the Botswana border at Kasane. After completing immigration formalities, continue to your game lodge near the Chobe River.

Chobe National Park is Botswana’s premier wildlife reserve and is uniquely situated at the confluence of the Zambezi and Chobe Rivers, where four African countries meet – Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia.

After checking in to your lodge, enjoy a boat ride on the Chobe River, which is home to some of Botswana’s most spectacular wildlife, as well as abundant bird life. Game viewing opportunities should present themselves almost immediately in this vast game sanctuary and hopefully you will see elephant, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, antelope and other river-based wildlife today. Afterwards dine in the atmosphere that only the African bushveld can provide.

  • Day 3 : Chobe National Park

Rise at dawn to take advantage of the best game viewing conditions of the day and enjoy a thrilling open-top game viewing drive with a lodge ranger.

Chobe National Park is home to vast herds of buffalo and elephant, as well as numerous other species which roam in profusion and diversity. During the dry season, vast elephant herds migrate from both south and north to congregate in their thousands along the Chobe River – the largest concentration of elephants in the whole of Africa. Also hope to see lion, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, hippo, kudu, crocodiles, antelope, waterbuck, warthogs, baboons and many other interesting animals before returning to your lodge.

In the afternoon, enjoy another game-viewing boat ride on the Chobe River.

  • Day 4 : Chobe National Park

Today enjoy two more game activities in Chobe National Park.

Activities on offer vary by lodge, but usually include fishing on the Zambezi River, addition game drives in Chobe National Park or boat rides on the river, which gives you a completely different wildlife perspective. Some lodges offer excursions to a Namibian village across the river to see their culture and way of life, with immigration formalities at both Kasane and on the Namiban side.

After a beautiful African sunset, enjoy the balmy evening and pristine stars of the Milky Way – including the spectacular Southern Cross.

  • Day 5 : Chobe River

Today transfer to the Chobe River for the ferry to Zambia. After completing immigration formalities, transfer 2-hours to Livingstone Airport for your light aircraft flight to Lusaka and connecting flight to Mfuwe.

Here you will be met and transferred to the famous South Luangwa National Park. Check into your lodge in this renowned wildlife wilderness, before setting out in the late afternoon on a bush walk or open top game viewing drive with your lodge ranger. Game is most easily sighted in the dry season from April to October, but the park is at its most beautiful in the first half of the year after the rains of the wet season.

  • Day 6 : South Luangwa National Park

South Luangwa National Park is Zambia’s most famous wildlife park, covering an area in excess of 5,600 square miles (9,050 square kilometres). Sustained by the great Luangwa River the park hosts a wide variety of wildlife, birds and vegetation. The changing seasons add to the park’s richness, ranging from dry bare bushveld in the winter to a lush green in the summer in this pristine wildlife wilderness.

Rise early each morning, when game viewing conditions are at their best, to view wildlife either on foot or from an open top safari vehicle in this great conservation area. With over 60 different animal species, the concentration of game around the Luangwa River and its ox bow lagoons is amongst the highest in Africa, including four of the Big 5 – lion, elephant, buffalo and leopard (sadly rhino has been poached to extinction). Also search for zebra, giraffe, antelope and much more, with leopard sightings being particularly outstanding.

Birding is also outstanding with over 400 different species, including large flocks of cranes. From late August to October you can enjoy the amazing spectacle of thousands of southern carmine bee-eaters nesting along the river banks. From November numerous migratory birds start to arrive to exploit the feeding opportunities presented during the warm rainy season - including red chested cuckoo, hobbies and birds of prey such as steppe buzzards that travel from as far afield as Russia.

After relaxing at your lodge during the heat of the day, in the late afternoon set out on another game activity with your ranger. In the evening relax by the campfire under a balmy African sky and hear the untamed sounds of wildlife all around.

  • Day 7 : South Luangwa National Park
