Darjeeling covers the history of Darjeeling town and its adjoining hill areas belonging to Sikkim, but eventually part of British India so now in the Indian state of West Bengal, which is intertwined with the history of Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan, Bengal and Great Britain. Part of the state of Sikkim, Darjeeling became part of an important buffer state between Nepal and Bhutan. The British, using the area as a sanatorium, found that the climate provided excellent tea-cultivating conditions and soon began to grow tea on the hills of Darjeeling. Darjeeling tea remains a world-renowned export from Darjeeling.

Early Morning (at 04:00 am) drive to Tiger hill (8,400 ft.) to watch the spectacular sunrise over Mt. Khangchendzongha (28,208 ft. Worlds’ 3rd highest peak), after breakfast visit Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, P.N. Zoological Park (Thursday closed), Tenzing Rock, Tibetan Refugee self-help Centre and Japanese Temple. Evening free for shopping or leisure. Overnight stay at Darjeeling.

MIRIK EXCURSION (FULL DAY)
Early morning breakfast – Drive from Darjeeling to Mirik – 49 kilometers 1 ½ hours – via Simana – Pashupati – One can go shopping to Pashupati in Nepal - Mirik – Pleasant and serene this town is centered on the Sumendu Lake. Landscaped tea gardens, orange orchards, cardamom groves, etc, offers spectacular views of the eastern Himalayan ranges. Milder climate with unspoiled idyllic surroundings is an ideal setting for calm walks and a paradise for visitors - Afternoon visit to Sumendu Lake, the major attraction of Mirik, there is boating facility. Singha Devi temple also known as Debi Sthan. Rai Dhap is a popular picnic spot among idyllic surroundings. Overnight stay at Darjeeling Hotel.
