4Day Nyerere And Mikumi National Parks Safari Tour

Depart from Dar es Salaam at 5:30 AM, traveling via Morogoro and Chalinze with a picnic lunch packed. The drive to Mikumi National Park will take approximately 5 to 6 hours. Along the way, you may spot a variety of wildlife, including lions, elands, hartebeest, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffes, zebras, elephants, wild dogs, and numerous bird species. Upon arrival, embark on a game drive in Mikumi National Park. Due to its expansive savannah plains, wildlife is relatively easy to observe, and the game drive typically lasts 4 to 5 hours. Afterward, drive to Bastian Camp for accommodation, where you'll enjoy a full board meal plan.

After breakfast, enjoy a cultural visit to a Maasai village starting around 9:00 AM. Following this enriching experience, we’ll embark on a scenic drive to Nyerere National Park, which will take approximately 7 to 8 hours. A picnic lunch will be served en route, allowing you to savor the journey through some of the most pristine and untouched landscapes. Upon arrival at Nyerere National Park, you’ll check in at African Safari Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Begin your day with a thrilling game drive in Nyerere National Park, where you’ll have the opportunity to spot a variety of wildlife. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat safari on the Rufiji River, lasting 2 to 3 hours. Your safari guide will help you spot elusive wild dogs, one of the park’s rarest species, along with sable antelopes, black rhinoceros, Nile crocodiles, hippos along the riverbanks, Cape buffalo, hartebeests, and elands.

A picnic lunch with drinks will be served in the wilderness before returning to camp for dinner and an overnight stay. The gentle sounds of the camp at night will add to your experience. Boat safaris are particularly rewarding for bird enthusiasts, as Nyerere National Park—formerly known as Selous Game Reserve—hosts over 350 bird species. The Rufiji River is a prime location for observing these birds in their natural habitat.

For those interested in fishing, try your luck catching the formidable tiger fish or the sizable catfish abundant in the river.

Enjoy an early breakfast at the camp before embarking on a sunrise bush walk. This walking safari offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature and gain insight into the smaller species and the ecosystem of the bush. The walk, lasting approximately 2 to 3 hours, begins around 6:00 AM to 6:30 AM after a light refreshment of tea and homemade biscuits or doughnuts.

Following the walk, we will start the drive back to Dar es Salaam. For those with an extended itinerary, there is an option to take a boat to Zanzibar.
