4Day Nyerere - Mikumi National Parks Safari Tour

Depart from Dar es Salaam at 5:30 am, traveling via Morogoro and Chalinze with a picnic lunch packed for the journey. After approximately 5 to 6 hours of driving, you’ll arrive at Mikumi National Park, where you can start your wildlife adventure.

As you embark on a game drive, you may encounter a diverse array of animals including lions, elands, hartebeest, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffes, zebras, elephants, wild dogs, and numerous bird species. The park's open savannah plains make wildlife spotting relatively easy, and you can complete a comprehensive game drive in about 4 to 5 hours.

After your game drive, head to Bastian Camp for your accommodation, where you'll enjoy a full board meal plan and a comfortable overnight stay.

After breakfast, you'll visit a local Maasai village around 9:00 am for an enriching cultural experience. Following your visit, embark on a scenic drive to Nyerere National Park, which will take approximately 7 to 8 hours.

Enjoy a picnic lunch en route as you pass through some of the most pristine and untouched landscapes, offering breathtaking views and a sense of adventure.

Upon arrival, settle into your accommodation at African Safari Camp, where you'll enjoy a delicious dinner and a comfortable overnight stay amidst the natural beauty of Nyerere National Park.

Spend your day immersed in the wildlife of Nyerere National Park. Start with an exhilarating game drive, where your safari guide will help you spot some of the park's rare and elusive species, including wild dogs, sable antelopes, black rhinoceros, and Cape buffalo. You'll also have the chance to see Nile crocodiles, hippos along the Rufiji Riverbanks, hartebeests, and elands.

Around midday, enjoy a picnic lunch in the wilderness, surrounded by the park's natural beauty. After lunch, embark on a 2 to 3-hour boat safari on the Rufiji River. This serene experience offers a unique perspective of the park, ideal for spotting bird species—over 350 can be found in Nyerere National Park, formerly known as Selous Game Reserve. The river is a hotspot for birdwatching, with many species congregating in this open environment.

For fishing enthusiasts, the Rufiji River is also home to abundant tiger fish and catfish. Return to camp for dinner and an overnight stay, where you’ll fall asleep to the soothing sounds of the wilderness.

Start your day with an early breakfast at the camp, followed by a sunrise bush walk. This walking safari offers an intimate way to connect with nature, allowing you to explore the smaller details of the ecosystem and gain insights into the bush. The walk, which typically lasts 2 to 3 hours, begins around 6:00 am to 6:30 am, after enjoying a cup of tea and some homemade biscuits or doughnuts.

Following your walking safari, you'll drive back to Dar es Salaam. For those with additional plans, you may choose to take a boat to Zanzibar instead.
