Upon arrival at Durbans King Shaka Int airport you will be met by our tour guide who will transfer you to your Durban beachfro nt hotel. Today we will enjoy a leisurely start as our guide will meet yo u in the hotel foyer at 09h00. Thi s morning we take a journey t o the cradle of South Africa’s democra cy and visit some of Durban’s m ost historical sites. Places wh ere the future of South Africa w as changed by the hands of brave and committed individuals. The hi ghlight is a visit site where Nelson Mandela cast his fist democratic vote in 1994. You will also visit pla ces such as: In anda Township, Mahatma Ghandi homestead (Phoenix Settlement), Inanda Seminary and many more. After lunch we will proceed to the Valley of a thousand hills w here we will stop for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch we will proceed on a Tour of magnificent scenery, culture and reptiles all rolled into one. Our tour begi ns as we drive through the we stern Durban suburbs and on to the pict uresque countryside of the Val ley of a Thousand Hills. Visit a constructed Zulu village where you will be welcomed into the tradit ional beehive huts. Various art efacts, beliefs and ritual are explained, providing an insight into the fascinating Zulu culture. Our tour of the village culminates in an impressive Zulu dancing sh ow. After this cultural experien ce we will visit the local snake and crocodile farm to view some of A frica magnificent creatures. After breakfast and check out, o r guide will meet you in the ho tel foyer at 09h00 as we depar t by road to the town of St Lucia which is located 3 hours north of the Durban cit y centre. St Lucia i s a World Heritage site and home to a number Hippopotamus, the Nile crocodile and an abundance of bir d that can be found along the natural estuary system. Upon arriva l we will check into our loc al hotel before embarking on a 2 hour boat cruise along the estuar y. This will allow you a unique safari experience from while cr uising along the waterway. We will then return to your local hotel and the rest of this eveni ng will be at leisure. Today we will spend a day on saf ari in the magical Hluhluwe-Umf olozi Park. The park is famous fo r its highly succ essful white rhino conservation programme. The reserv e is home to 84 species of ga me, including the 'Big Five', and an impressive 425 types of birds. Lunch at Hilltop Camp ( or similar) included. After lunc h we proceed driving through the park as we head back to our ho tel in Durban. This evening will be at leisure. After a leisurely breakfast, our guide will be on hand to trans port you to the Emdoneni cat rehabilitation tour. Be mesmerized by the beauty of the Caracal (Lynx), enchanted and astonished by the s peed and agility of the Cheetah and delighted by the African Wi ldcat. View and photograph these amazing animals at the Emdoneni Cheet ah Project. We offer daily educational tours, with feedings dur ing the afternoon tour and an informative talk about the animals an d the project by our experienced guides. After checking out from your St Lucia hotel, our guide will col lect you in time for transfer to your onward flight from King S haka International hotel.
