Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : WELCOME AND PICKUP FROM KIGALI AIRPORT. TRANSFER TO VIRUNGA NATIONAL PARK

  You will be met at Kigali International Airport by an African Unique Safaris and Tours representative who will warmly welcome you and introduce you to your driver/guide and brief you on your itinerary.
  Then your driver/guide will transfer you to the Rwanda/DR Congo border and assist you across where your African Unique Safaris and Tours DR Congo representative will be waiting for you.
  They will introduce themselves and take you to your accommodation of choice:

• Day 2 : MOUNTAIN GORILLA TREK

  This morning after breakfast you will be transferred from your lodge to the park headquarters for a briefing on Gorilla etiquette, behaviors and language.
  The dedicated park rangers will then take you and a 2-6 hour trek to locate a Habituated group of Mountain Gorillas.
  Once you locate your troop you get to spend an awe-inspiring hour observing their social interaction, play, family roles and behaviors. This is often described as one of the planets incredible animal encounters.
  After the trek your driver guide will escort you back to your lodge of choice:

• Day 3 : CHIMPANZEE HABITUATION

  Early breakfast eaten en route this morning as you again head out to the park headquarters to start your briefing for your Chimpanzee Habituation Trek.
  Chimpanzees along with the DR Congo Bonobo are our closest genetic relatives and no doubt you’ll recognize a few traits.
  The Frankfurt Zoological Society began habituating a group of chimpanzees living in the forests around park headquarters in Rumangabo.
  Guests can join this team on their daily visits to the chimpanzees. The day begins when a group of local trackers leave their camp at 4:30 am to locate where the chimpanzees spent the previous night. Lodge guests set out at 6:00 am to find the chimpanzees. Groups are limited to 4 people and time with the chimpanzees is restricted to one hour.
  After the amazing trek your driver guide will transfer you back to your lodge for a freshen, lunch and check out before transferring you to the border and assisting you across to your Rwandan representative.
  Your Rwandan representative will then transfer you to Kigali to check in and relax at your accommodation of choice:

• Day 4 : KIGALI CITY TOUR INCLUDING KIGALI GENOCIDE MEMORIAL

  After breakfast your driver/guide will pick you up at a per-arranged time and take you on a city tour.
  Here you can visit the Women’s COOP and go on a walking tour or browse for souvenirs.
  Afterwards be taken to the Genocide Memorial. This deeply respectful and moving memorial is emotionally challenging, highly educational and transparent and ultimately inspiring as you discover the amazing peace, reconciliation and progress Rwanda has made post the 1994 tragedy.
  Lastly we will transfer you to Kigali International to catch your connecting and hope very much to see once again.
