Day 1 : Arrive Christchurch
Christchurch, the heart of the Canterbury plains is fondly dubbed “The Garden City” and sparkles all year round. A lively blend of English tradition and contemporary New Zealand culminate in Christchurch offering a vast array of unique attractions and experiences which are sure to charm its many visitors.
The Christchurch Botanic Gardens showcase some of the flora of New Zealand and other parts of the world. Founded in 1863 with the planting of an English Oak tree, the Gardens now feature one of the finest collections of exotic and native plants found in New Zealand. Towering majestic trees – many over 120 years old – dominate the Gardens, forming a striking backdrop to the extensive themed plant collections and sweeping lawns.

Day 2 : Christchurch - Dunedin

SH 1 from Christchurch to Dunedin reveals a great many gems for the traveller from urban interests to natural wonders, from farmlands and mighty rivers to seaside towns and historic Oamaru. On the ‘not to be missed’ list are the enormous boulders at Moreaki and the cliff edge Māori pā at Karitane; whilst the ‘Edinburgh of the South’, Dunedin, lies just ahead.
Day 3 : Dunedin - Te - Anau

Drive through the rolling hill country of South Otago and Southland. After the farming community of Gore, cross the Waimea plains towards Fiordland. Overnight in Te Anau.
Day 4 : Te - Anau - Milford Sound - Queenstown

Drive through pristine beech forests and the Homer Tunnel to Milford Sound. We have included a cruise to enable you to appreciate the majesty of Mitre Peak and Bowen Falls. Return to Te Anau, then turn north, following the dramatic southern shores of Lake Wakatipu to reach Queenstown.
Stay 3 nights in Queenstown. For an additional charge you may choose to swap one night in Queenstown and your Milford afternoon Cruise for a night aboard the Milford Mariner at Milford Sound.
Day 5 : Queenstown
Two days free for you to enjoy this fabulous Alpine resort. There are dozens of optional activities as well, from thrilling jet boat rides to leisurely lake cruises, 4WD safaris, bungy jumping.
Day 6 : Queenstown
There is so much to do in Queenstown you may need a rest! Today could be perfect for a ride on the Skyline Gondola ride 450 metres up above Queenstown to Bob’s peak. Here you can relax and enjoy the awesome views.
Or if your the adventurous type then there is the downhill luge, with enough twists and turns for anyone with a daring nature.
Either way there is no lack of entertainment in one of New Zealands stand out tourist playgrounds.
Day 7 : Queenstown - Mount Cook - Christchurch
Queenstown to Christchurch
Driving distance: 484 km / 301 miles
By Road Driving: Approx 6h2m
Pass through the Kawarau Gorge with its historic gold mines, then past the stone fruit growing area of Cromwell to the Lindis Pass. Cross the spectacular Mackenzie Country bounded by the Southern Alps to the glacial lakes and into the Mount Cook National Park.
Continue north through Burkes Pass, Fairlie and Geraldine to Christchurch.
Overnight in Christchurch
