Package Overview

Why MACHAME ROUTE?
Despite many routes to Uhuru Peak, about 50% of all climbers prefer the Machame route due to its impressive views and diverse habitats. Known as the “Whiskey Route” for its challenging nature compared to the “Coca-Cola Route” (Marangu), Machame offers a more scenic and varied experience. The route allows climbers to explore the southwest and south areas of Mount Kilimanjaro, providing breathtaking vistas and a rich array of ecosystems. While the journey can be completed in 7 days, many climbers opt for an extra day to better acclimatize, reducing the risk of altitude sickness and increasing the chances of a successful summit. Starting from Machame Gate, the trek includes traversing lush rainforests, moorlands, and alpine deserts before reaching the summit. The route demands physical fitness and determination, but the rewards are worth the effort, making it a favorite among adventurers. Climbers should be prepared for varied weather conditions, bringing appropriate gear for both wet and cold environments. The Machame route is not only about reaching the summit but also about appreciating the journey through one of the world’s most iconic landscapes.

N.B:
Please note that the 8 days mentioned refer to the actual trekking days on the mountain. In addition, you need to account for 2 extra days—one for arrival and one for departure—making the total trip 10 days.

Departure/Safari Day
This can be either your final day in Tanzania or the first if you choose to embark on a safari to our stunning national parks. If it’s your last day, you will be transferred to your port of departure after breakfast.
