This trek is limited to people experienced in travel in rugged backcountry and with solid know-how of hiking and camping. One of the most challenging routes, it takes one from the lush green Kullu valley to the stark landscapes of Bara Bhangal range. But for the trouble, it is a very fruitful trek that people looking for an isolated, in-tune-with-nature routes. This is a trek for the 'Himalayan hand', with an opportunity to absorb unrivalled views of the Pir Panjal, Bara Bhangal and Dhauladhar ranges before descending to the Kangra Valley and Dharamshala -the seat of the 14th Dalai Lama and his Tibetan government in exile.

Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Delhi

    Arrival Delhi airport, local transfer by Taxi. Travel overnight to Manali.

  • Day 2 : Manali

    On arrival transfer to hotel early in the morning and later walk to Hadimba Devi Temple and old Manali. Later by car visit Tibetan Monastery and the Mall road. Dinner and O/N stay at hotel. This day the group members can sort out their requirements and can buy few necessary things for the trekking if required.M

  • Day 3 : Manali

    In the morning we will trek to Lama Dugh. As one gains height, the view of different faces of Indrasan, Deo Tibba peaks and Bara Shigri Glacier opens up. In the last lag, one enters the campsite on an alpine plateau studded with thick growth of alpine flowers. Dinner and O/N stay in camp.

  • Day 4 : Lama Dugh

    We will trek to Rani Sui. The trek is through a steep ridge below Thanpri Tibba (4000m). One can have a magnificent glimpse of Manali and the whole upper Kullu valley, which appears swathed in the different colors of the season. Dinner and O/N stay in tents.z

  • Day 5 : Rani Sui

    This day is challenging and full of amazing views. The walk of this day is through beautiful meadows and many streams , a final climb will take us to Gwari. The camp night next to the glacier stream with amazing views. It is also an experience of lifetime made luxurious with delicious food provided by our kitchen staff. Dinner and O/N stay in tents.

  • Day 6 : Kaliheni Pass

    Our day will start with steep clim for Kaliheni pass. Views from the pass are very awesome with a easy glacier descent on the other side. We will walk for a hour to reach our campsite near one the lakes. This glacier also create River Ravi, which is one among the most popular rivers of the Himalayas on the banks of which many civilizations had flourished and still the several stories are very famous in the villages located with its banks. The river shows it best presence in Chamba district of Himachal and further goes into Pakistan. Dinner and O/N stay in tents.

  • Day 7 : Lamba Pass

    We start the trek in the morning after breakfast and give ample time for trekkers to observe the quaint beauty of the valley . We cross several streams and meadows on this day. Dinner and O/N stay in tents.

  • Day 8 : Lamba Parav

    The day start with a tiny climb followed by crossing beautiful meadow, where we can also see Himalayan brown bears and other wildlife. A steep descend will take us to a gorge, which is full of Birch and Rododendron. We will then climb few steep climb to reach our camp at Suni Nala. This camp is full of wild flowers and great views of Bara Bhangal valley .

  • Day 9 : Suni Nala

    The trail now continues down the Ravi River into the deodar forest, to the only large village in the valley, Bara Bhangal. The area is dominated by the Gaddi (shepherds) tribe which is generally co related with the lord Shiva and it is also said that this tribe is as old as the presence of Shiva in the mountains. The tribe, from centuries is associated with the sheep and goats and moves from one to other pastures in Himalayas for complete summers and get down to the plains once the winter starts. The hardship of this tribe is stunning and even with the vast opportunities of the present world, they rarely leave this traditional profession. Dinner and O/N stay in tents.

  • Day 10 : Bara Bhangal

    Explore village and surrounding areas. Bara Bhangal is isolated and seldom visited. Members of the Gaddi tribe inhabit it and your guide will try to find opportunity to visit to some house and interact with this tribe. Dinner and O/N stay in tents.

  • Day 11 : Bara Bhangal

    Leaving the village we now head south across the hills towards the base of the Thamsar Pass (4200 M). The walk is pleasant and the climb can be a bit tiring but the beautiful views make up for this. Camp at the base.

  • Day 12 : Base Camp

    A steep climb through forests and we reach the top of the pass. Stopping awhile- here to take in the unforgettable views we cross over the Thamsar Pass (4570 meters) and a steady descent takes us to Panhartu our next campsite. The distance is 12 Kms and takes 6-7 hours.

  • Day 13 : Panhartu

    A leisure day walk along the river crossing few snow bridges. We will also see many rock caves on the way, where Gaddi’s make their shelters occasionally. Camp near the bridge at Palchak.

  • Day 14 : Billing

    Passing several villages enroute we head towards the small village of Billing in the district of Kangra. Billing is also well known for its annual paragliding and hang Gliding competitions. We reach our campsite near the village of Billing by evening.

  • Day 15 : Monastery and Establishments.

    Full day to relax and evening to explore Tibetan Monastery and establishments.

  • Day 16 : Chandigarh

    Drive to Chandigarh/Dehradun to take further train/flights.
