Start the trek at Machame Gate at 1790m and ascend through montane rain forest terrain towards Machame Camp at 3010m. This first day establishes elevation gain and introduces the varied flora and scenic vistas of the Machame route while beginning the acclimatisation process.

Depart Machame Camp at 3010m and continue ascending to Shira Camp at 3845m. The route rises above the forest into moorland and highland scenery providing dramatic views and ongoing acclimatisation before reaching the Shira plateau.

Leave Shira Cave area at 3845m and traverse across high altitude terrain towards Barranco Camp at 3960m. The day includes varied landscapes and continued acclimatisation as you approach the southern circuit of Kilimanjaro.

From Barranco Camp at 3960m progress across alpine desert and steep sections toward Barafu Camp at 4640m. This day involves significant elevation gain and prepares climbers for the summit push with important acclimatisation and trekking experience.

Begin the final summit push from Barafu Camp at 4640m to reach Uhuru Peak at 5895m, the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro. After reaching Uhuru Peak descend to Millennium Camp at 3790m. This day includes the summit experience and a substantial descent for recovery.

Trek down from Millennium Camp at 3790m following the Mweka Route to Mweka Gate at 1630m where the climb officially ends and you exit the park. The descent provides changing landscapes from alpine to forest and concludes the Machame route experience.
