Chandranahan lake trek is known to a handful of people as its not high on the popularity charts when compared with treks like Kedarkantha, Dayara Bugyal, and more. But, don’t make the mistake of thinking that it is any less adventurous, fun, or appealing in comparison to those mentioned here.

Now, Chandranahan lake is not just like any other lakes but it has historical, mythological, and geographical significance as well.

It is believed that Chandranahan lake’s location is the exact place where Goddess Kali used to stay, back in the day, and is also known as her holy abode. Adding to that, it is also the birthplace of Devta Shikru Maharaj, who holds a very important place in the eyes of locals and devotees.

The name of this place has an interesting story as well. And according to the legend, it says that Chandra Dev visits this place for a ritual bath every 10 years. This is why the place is called Chandra-Nahan meaning, Bath of Chandra.

Upon reaching the 9,200 ft top, which is also the Chandranahan lake altitude, one can experience the true bliss and grandness of nature. The lake itself is frozen and makes up for a great view for the one who really wants to see, hidden attractions of the world.

Day wise Itinerary

Day 1

Shimla to Janglikh(2500mtrs)

On arrival at Shimla, you will be met by our representative at the bus stand, and then we will travel to Janglikh village. Drive through the beautiful valley, en-route Khadapathar or via Narkanda and Rohru.

The journey to Janglikh will take almost 6-7 hours. After the briefing, we will camp overnight at Janglikh village.

The day ends with a bonfire and posts that dinner.

Day 2

Janglikh to Dayara Thach

After breakfast, we start our trek to LithamThach through the meadow of Mount Thach.

These meadows are heavenly for nature lovers. After 5-6 hours of ascending you will reach Lytham thach . Now enjoy the beauty of Nature as you are in front of the beautiful Chandernahan waterfall.

Today we will also cover a newly formed Mundra Lake.

Back to Litham by evening. We will camp near waterfall in Litham Thach

Day 3

Dayara thach to LithamThach (Nearby Chandernahan waterfall)

After breakfast, we start out trek to LithamThach through the meadow of Mount Thach.

These meadows are heavenly for nature lovers. After 5-6 hours of ascending you will reach Lytham thach . Now enjoy the beauty of Nature as you are in-front of beautiful Chandernahan waterfall.

Today we will also cover a newly formed Mundar Lake.

Back to Litham by evening. We will camp near waterfall in Litham Thach

Day 4

Chandernahan Waterfall to seven Glacial Ponds

Early morning breakfast. Post breakfast we trek to the Seven Frozen Glacial Ponds.

These Seven Glacial Ponds are the source of the Pabbar river.

The fifth glacial pond is the biggest one.

Back to Chander Nahan waterfall campsite.

Overnight camping and Dinner.

Day 5

Litham to Dayara Thatch

After breakfast, we trek back to Dayara Thach

Dayara Thach is the Most Beautiful Place on this trek. The long Meadows with herds of sheep will definitely steal your heart.

Enjoy dinner and sleep under stars in Dayara thach

Day 6

Dayara thatch to janglikh village To Shimla

After breakfast, we start trekking back to Janglikh village.

Post freshen up we drive back to Shimla.

The trek ends here with refreshing memories of Chandranahan lake and the waterfall.
