The Chandratal Lake Trek is one of the most pleasant treks with diverse landscape from lush green fields of Kullu Valley and desolate landscape of Spiti Valley to the beautiful high elevation icy Chandratal Lake. Chandra Tal (4300m) is one of many trekking destinations in the Himalayan region that is accessible throughout the year. No other trek proposes such diversity in a short span of 3 days.

Even though Chandratal is smaller than other high altitude lakes like Pangong and Moriri, it is no less than other pristine lakes, it serves as a beautiful campsite and an all-night camp near this lake is one of the main attractions in the valley.

Day wise Itinerary

Day 1

Drive from Manali to Chatru.

After reaching Manali, we begin our journey to Chatru. It takes 1 hour and 42 minutes to drive from Manali to Chatru. The estimated driving distance between Manali and Chhatru is 85 km.
Day 2

Trek from Chatru to Chandratal.

Chandratal Lake

Today we trek on the Chandratal trail from Chatru. Chatru is basically a road full of dhabas, on the north side of the Chandratal Lake. It takes almost 50 minutes to hike from Chatru to Chandratal Lake.
Day 3

Drive back from Chandratal to Manali.

Rohtang Pass

The Chandra Tal Lake will be the main attraction of your day. It’s situated at a high altitude of 14,100ft and is moon-shaped and serves as a delight for the visitors. Sightseeing and exploring the surroundings of the lake, we take a drive via Rohtang Pass to reach Manali.
