Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Arrival and Exploring Mangalore City & Beaches

    Morning:

Arrival in Mangalore: Depending on your arrival time, check into your hotel or guesthouse and freshen up.

Tannirbhavi Beach: Start your day with a peaceful visit to Tannirbhavi Beach, which is less crowded and offers a serene atmosphere. Take a walk along the shore or just relax by the water.

    Late Morning:

Panambur Beach: This is another popular beach in Mangalore. It's more commercialized, with water sports and activities available. If you're into adventure, you can try parasailing or enjoy a boat ride.

    Afternoon:

Mangaladevi Temple: After the beach, head to the Mangaladevi Temple, which is where Mangalore gets its name. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Mangaladevi and is one of the oldest and most significant temples in the region.

St. Aloysius Chapel: Visit this beautiful chapel, famous for its frescoes and murals that adorn the walls. It’s a peaceful spot to explore, and the architecture is stunning.

    Lunch:

Try Local Coastal Cuisine: Mangalore is known for its seafood and coastal dishes like Neer Dosa, Fish Curry Rice, and Mangalore Buns. Head to a local restaurant like Shaan’s Restaurant or Hotel Navratna for a taste of the local flavors.

    Evening:

Kadri Manjunath Temple: After lunch, visit Kadri Manjunath Temple, an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, set in a lush green area. The temple is known for its historical significance and intricate architecture.

Shopping and Local Market: Explore the Central Market in Mangalore, where you can shop for local spices, dry fruits, cashews, and handcrafted items.

    Night:

Dinner at a Local Restaurant: Enjoy a relaxed dinner at Gajalee Restaurant or Moti Mahal, both of which serve delicious Mangalorean and coastal cuisine.

If you're interested, take a walk along Nanthe Mutt or visit a local cafe.

  • Day 2 : Day Trip to Surrounding Attractions (Udupi, Surathkal Beach, or Pilikula)

    Morning:

Udupi (Optional): If you're up for a small trip (about 1-1.5 hours drive), head to Udupi, a renowned pilgrim town known for its Udupi Sri Krishna Temple. You can spend about 2-3 hours exploring the temple and its surroundings. Udupi is also famous for its temples, as well as its Udupi cuisine, so you might want to try the famous Udupi sambar or Neer Dosa.

Alternative Morning Plan – Surathkal Beach:

Surathkal Beach: If you prefer to stay closer to Mangalore, visit Surathkal Beach (15-20 minutes from Mangalore). It's a clean and less crowded beach, perfect for a morning walk or a peaceful time by the water. You can also visit the Kollur Mookambika Temple nearby.

    Afternoon:

Pilikula Nisargadhama: Head to Pilikula Nisargadhama (about 15 km from Mangalore), a beautiful eco-park and nature reserve. The park offers boat rides, a zoo, botanical gardens, and a heritage village showcasing local traditions. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy nature.

    Late Afternoon:

Mangalore Fort: On your way back to the city, visit Mangalore Fort, which dates back to the 16th century. Though it's mostly in ruins, it gives you a sense of the history of the city and its colonial past.

    Evening:

Sultan Battery: End your day by visiting Sultan Battery, a historic watchtower with a view of the Mangalore Port and the surrounding landscape. It’s an excellent spot to watch the sunset.

    Night:

Dinner at a Seaside Restaurant: Enjoy your last dinner in Mangalore at one of the seaside restaurants like The Ocean Pearl or Mangalore Beach Restaurant to savor some fresh seafood and enjoy the coastal ambiance.
