40 kms. away from Kulu to the north, Manali is situated near the end of the valley on the National Highway leading to Leh. The landscape here is breath taking. One sees well-defined snow capped peaks, the Beas river with its clear water meanders through the town. On the other side are deodar and pine trees, tiny fields and fruit orchards. It is an excellent place for a holiday, a favorite resort for trekkers to Lahaul, Spiti, Kinnaur, Leh and Zanskar regions in Kashmir valley. It is known as the SWITZERLAND OF INDIA.

Manali is Situated at the northen end of the Kullu Valley, Manali has spectacular views of snowcapped peaks and wooded slopes. The Beas rushes along its rocky course amid grassy meadows carpeted with wild flowers and wagtails hop along from stone to stone along the stream's edge. There are marvellous walks too, through dappled orchards and fairy-tale forests of deodar.
The Manali market is crowded with myriads of interesting shops selling Tibetan carpets and crafts and the appetizing aroma of steaming noodles hangs about the  little restaurants. Manali, with its Mountaineering Institute, is a popular base for trekking and mountaineering in summer and skiing in winter. Interesting routes into the surrounding valleys, over the high passes, are provided with tourist huts and rest houses for trekking enthusiasts.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Chandigarh –Shimla (125Kms)

  Pickup from Chandigarh airport or railway station and drive towards Shimla, have lunch on the way and check in hotel later on visit Jakhu temple (2455mts.) dedicated to Lord Hanuman or visit Indian Institute of Advanced Studies. In the evening walk the famous shopping mall of Shimla, visit Christ church. Dinner & Overnight stay at Hotel.
• Day 2 : Shimla – Jakhu – Kufri- Christ church. (50km) 

  After having breakfast drive towards kufri known for winter sports. One can also enjoy horse ride to the top of Mahasu peak and enjoy breathtaking views of the mighty Himalayas. Visit the Himalayan nature park having some of the most endangered species of wild life and pheasants. In the evening walk the famous mall Road of Shimla, Dinner & Overnight stay at Hotel.
• Day 3 : Shimla ––Kullu – Manali. (260km)

  Morning drive from Shimla to Manali (7-8 hr). Keep your cameras ready, there are many scenic spots as you pass by Kasol valley, Rafting in the Beas River, Angora Farm ,Vaishno devi Temple &  famous Kullu Shawl Industry ,Arrive and transfer to hotel. Evening is free to explore various scenic sights or visit mall road. Night stay in Manali

• Day 4 : Manali –Rothang pass –– Manali (115km)

  After breakfast early in the morning we drive to the famous Rothang pass (3978mts.) On the way stop at Mari, for having a river side cup of coffee and this place also facilitates paragliding, proceed further to reach Rothang Pass, walk along the pass to have stunning views Lahaul Valley with mighty Himalayas and glaciers in front of you. One can also enjoy a pony ride.  Stop for lunch on your way driving back to Manali.

• Day 5 : Manali Local Sightseeing (30kms)

  After early breakfast in the morning we drive to Vashisht Bath (Hot Sulpher Spring)then drive towards old manali and visit club house, van vihar and tibetian monastery. Then visit 3000years old Hadimba Temple. Have evening free on the mall road.Overnight stay in Hotel in Manali
• Day 6 : Manali –– Dharamshala – Mecleodganj (235km)

  After early breakfast in the morning start towards Dharamshala (Mecleodganj) through the scenic valleys of Mandi stop for lunch on the way. Reach Dharamshala late afternoon, check in your hotel. In the evening walk through markets of Mecleodganj to the temple of His Highness Dali Lama.

• Day 8 : Dharamshala – Dalhousie (130km)

  After having breakfast in hotel start driving toward Dalhousie check in the hotel and later walk around.
• Day 9 : Dalhousie – Khajjiar – Chamba-Dalhousie (96Kms)

  Khajjiar is Mini Switzerland of India at a height of 6400 ft. Hutchison writes, "Khajjiar is a forest glade of great beauty, 6400 feet above sea level". Khajjiar is known as India’s Mini Switzerland. Khajjiar is often reffered to as "Gulmarg of Himachal Pradesh". A little away from the lake is the temple of Khajji Nag belonging to 12th C. AD. In the mandapa of the temple one can see the images of the Pandavas and the defeated Kaurvas hanging from the roof of the circumambulatory path. The sanctum of the temple has been beautifully carved from wood.After sightseeing drop at Pathankot Railway station.
