Island Peak (Imja Tse), at the altitude of 6189m/20300ft, is one of the most popular trekking peaks in the world which lies in the Khumbu/Everest region- at Sagarmatha National Park.

Day 1 : Arrival Day in Kathmandu (1400m)
Welcome to the Land of Himalayas! On your arrival, Access Nepal representative would pick up you from airport and transfer to your hotel in Kathmandu. After check in to hotel, time for refreshment.
Evening, we will have a group meeting and introduction at 5:30 at our Office (Your Access Nepal Guest relation officer pick up you from your hotel at 5:00 PM). In the office we will have a trek briefing session, introduction to your trek leader and trip discussion. Then, you would be transferred to one of the typical Nepalese Restaurant (Nepali Chulo) for the welcome Dinner (We eat Dal Bhat- Typical Nepalese Food), enjoy eating local food with cultural and ethnical dance. O/N at Kathmandu.
Day 2 : Sightseeing of Kathmandu Valley (1400m) and Trek Preparation Day
After the breakfast, we will escort you to Pashupatinath- the largest Hindu Temple of Nepal in a private vehicle. The temple dedicated to supreme Hindu God, Shiva banks Bagmati River. At Pashupatinath you will get to see exceptionally carved statues and idols of Hindu deities, a long row of Shiva-Lings, series of small temples and the golden hood at the top of main Temple is truly fascinating. Moreover, an opportunity to witness the Hindu Death ritual at Aryaghat Pashupatinath is an offbeat cultural experience. After the exploration of Pashupatinath we will walk along the busy streets of Kathmandu to Boudhanath. A large domed shaped Buddhist stupa, Boudhanath holds huge religious significance among the Tibetan Buddhists of Nepal. A major shrine on ancient Indo-China trade route Boudhanath offered blessings to traders and scholars for safe journey through the high Himalayan passes to Tibet. Saffron robed monks circumambulating Boudhanath, colorful prayer flags touching the skyline from the dome pinnacle to the base of large monument and the and outlets selling Tibetan souvenirs makes this place a true Tibet outside Tibet. Post lunch the sightseeing tour continues to Kathmandu Durbar Square. The exemplary wooden and stone craftsmanship at the site makes a place the prominent attraction for tourists. The stone paved streets, pagoda style religious monuments inclusive different Hindu deities are the cultural delights of ancient and medieval Nepal at Kathmandu Durbar Square. Today’s final destination for sightseeing tour in Kathmandu takes you to Swayambhunath. A self emerged Buddhist stupa lies on a hilltop overlooking Kathmandu with its watchful eyes. You will get to experience more about Tibetan Buddhism at Swayambhunath.
Day 3 : Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2840m) and Trek to Phakding (2610 M)
Our flight to Lukla is early in the morning (From 6:30- 8:00 AM), so you will be transferred to Kathmandu domestic airport . Though, 3 shifts of eight aircrafts daily fly to Lukla, sometimes because of the bad weather every plane is grounded. So, there are chances you may have to wait for your turn to fly to Lukla. Once you fly on a 19 seater twin otter plane to Lukla, the journey is scenic and at times it is thrilling. After 25 minutes of scenic and thrilling flight, you will land at the airstrips of Lukla which hangs on the cliff at 2800m. On your arrival at Lukla, you will be cordially welcomed by your trek guide and instantly begin the trekking adventure to Everest Base Camp!
Day 4 : Trek from Phakding(2610 M) to Namche (3440m)
Today, the first half day of the trek, gradually ascends up to the Dudh Koshi Valley. The trial goes through several suspension bridges from one hill to another hill. After 2 hours of pleasant walk we arrive at Sagarmatha National Park entrance in Manjo. We need to produce our TIMS card and National Park Permit at the Entrance. We will stop at Jorsale for the lunch. Jorsale is is the last village before Namche. Beyond Jorsale, we chase the trial that arrives to the longest bridge in the valley, then a short walk brings you to the deep and short, Hillary Bridge. The trial after Hillary Bridge is a 3-hour painstaking steep uphill climb to Sherpa capital, Namche. then we have a long hill up(almost of 3 hours on slow and steady) to reach Namche. The hard efforts put to arrive at Namche offers with the big reward- the first view of Everest. On reaching to the top, of the hill, we will settle into our Lodge. Dinner & O/N at Mt. Lodge
Day 5 : Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar (3440m)
Today, we will have our first acclimatization day of the trek! Higher the altitude, thinner the air- we need to gain altitude slowly and steadily so that we get enough time to acclimatize en route, to Everest Base Camp 5357m and Island Peak. However, the acclimatization day does not mean to chill with the beer at Namche. We hike to a hill above Namche, which is one and half hours hike. The view of Mt. Everest with great panorama of Khumbu Himalayas are spectacular from Syangboche.
Day 6 : Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,860m), 5- 6 Hours Trek
Today, we will hike to Tengboche from Nacmhe. After the breakfast, at Nacmhe Lodge, we will start our hike through the ridge of the hillside, enjoying the great views of Mt. Kusum Kangaru, Thamserku & Ama Dablem on the right across the valley. First one hour of trekking is straight through the hillside, followed by the descend to the river valley where we will have our lunch. Post lunch, will have ascend through the sup- tropical forested hills to Tengboche for overnight. Tengboche has biggest Monastery in Khumbu, where we can see monks indulged in humming sacred religious Buddhists prayers. The dramatic rise of Mt. Ama Dablam at the backdrop of Tengboche Monastery is the eye-feasting view at Tengboche. Dinner & O/N at Tengboche.
Day 7 : Trek from Tengboche to Pheriche (4240m), 4 to 5 Hours Walk
After the breakfast at Tengboche, we descend steeply through a forest by crossing the Imja Khola and climb steadily to the village of Pangboche, which is situated opposite to Ama Dablam [6856m], and provides exceptional views of the mountain. A further two hours walk from Pangboche brings us to Pheriche. Stay overnight at Pheriche.
Day 8 : Trek from Pheriche to Lobuche (4910m), 4 to 5 Hours Walk
Today, we continue our trek by hiking up the wide valley beneath the impressive peaks of Cholatse and Tawache on the left. The path then climbs gently along the glacier, that eventually extends to the cluster of houses at Lobuche. With your spare time, rest or explore Lobuche Village. Stay overnight at lobuche.
Day 9 : Trek from Lobuche to Ebc (5364m) Via Gorakshep (5140m), 4 to 5 Hours Walk
This is our day to reach Everest Base Camp (EBC). After breakfast, we walk along the rocky terrain alongside the Khumbu glacier to EBC. It is straightforward slow paced glacial walk for 2 and ½ hours. Everest Base Camp is along the side in Khumbu Glacier. We’ll take our time inspecting the Khumbu ice fall, visit ice areas and glacier part in EBC, enjoy the great Himalayas and make best photos & Videos, then return back to Gorekshep for the lunch. If it happens to be an Everest expedition season (Mostly in spring at April & May), you could also see the tented camps of climbers who are preparing to their safe attempt to Mt. Everest, thus this place is named Everest Base Camp! In evening, we return back to Gorakshep for overnight.
Day 10 : Trek Gorakshep to Kalapathar (5550m) and Back to Periche 4240m, 6 to 7 Hours Walk
Trekking from Gorakshep to Kala Patthar (5550m) and then to Periche takes about six hours. After the breakfast, the short trekking through a glacier moraine brings us to Gorekshep (2 hours). After a quick settlement, and lunch, we will then start hiking to a big black rock hill to Kalapathar just above Gorekshep. This hike is straight uphill climb for 2 and hours. The trek to Gorakshep could be tough cold as the place is very windy so prepared with warm clothing. The summit of Kala Patter or “Black Rock” offers us the great big views of Mt. Everest (8848m/29000ft) including the full spread of Khumbu Himalayas- truly an unobstructed view of the highest mountain in the world. Alongside, Mt. Pumori looks great close up. As the sunset, the views are more colourful. We will have time to take great photos and videos at Kalapattar before, we trek back to Periche via Gorekshep and Lobuche for the overnight stay.
Day 11 : Trek from Periche to Chhukung 4730m 3 Hrs Trek
After the breakfast at Periche, We head towards Chhukung. Today, we have an easy walk for about 3 hours, climbing up gradually to the small settlement of Chhukung via Dingboche. Along the way we will have great views of Island Peak. Stay overnight at Chhukung.
Day 12 : Trek from Chhukung to Island Peak Base camp 5150m, 4 to 5 hours walk
Today again after the breakfast, we heads towards Island Peak Base Camp and it’s an easy day, the trail crosses the river and follows the valley for approx 3 hours, passing beneath the magnificent south face of Lhotse. Island Peak Base camp is situated at by the side of the Imja glacier, below steep grassy slopes which mark the start of the climb on Island Peak. Stay overnight on Camp at Island Peak Base Camp.
Day 13 : Trek from Base Camp to High Camp, 4 to 5 Hours Walk 5600m
Today we ascend a little further to high camp where we will relax and prepare for our climb tomorrow. Since you have acclimatize well we can spend a day in the High Camp savoring the alpine beauty and preparing for the final summit over Imja Peak. Stay overnight on Camp at high camp.
Day 14 : Island Peak Summit 6173m and Back to Base Camp, 4 to 5 Hours Walk
Today is the day for summit so by crossing the gully above the camp the trail makes a climb for another hour to a narrow ridge, leading on to the glacier. Here it is time to rope-up and put on our crampons as the most interesting part of the climb begins with the glacier crossing. And the trail is followed by the steep snow slope that leads onto the summit ridge. This ridge is wonderfully airy and on reaching the summit we will have stunning close-up views of the south face of Lhotse and there are other more wonderful mountain views from the top. Then, we descend along the same route, down to base camp. Stay overnight on Camp at Island Peak Base Camp.
Day 15 : Trek from Island Peak Base Camp to Pangboche (3950m), 6 to 7 Hours Walk
After descending along the trail via Chhukung, we continue our trek upto Dingboche then another couple of hours to Pangboche. Stay overnight on Lodge at Pangboche.
Day 16 : Trek from Pangboche to Namche Bazaar, 6 to 7 Hours Walk
From Pangboche we walk along the river and after crossing it, climb back up to Tengboche. Then we descend to the bridge over the Dudh Kosi at Phunki Tenga, where there are water driven prayer wheels, before making our way back to Namche Bazaar and after reaching Namche Bazaar, we can spent our spare time by resting or exploring. Stay overnight on Lodge at Namche Bazaar.
Day 17 : Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla, 5 to 6 Hours Walk
Today is our last day of entire trek and today again the trail follows along the Dudh Kosi River back down to Lukla. This last evening in the mountains is the ideal opportunity for a farewell party with the Sherpa guides and porters. Also we can celebrate our last day in mountain by singing dancing. Stay overnight on Lukla.
Day 18 : Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu
Today we take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu from Lukla . On arriving at Kathmandu, we transfer you to your hotel and there you may take rest or explore around the Thamel. Overnight at Kathmandu.
Day 19 : Free Day in Kathmandu; Evening Farewell Dinner
Today we have a free day in Kathmandu, which is never more in the cultural city like Kathmandu. You have plenty of options to do. You can stroll in the streets of Thamel where you can see several activities that look very peculiar to western travelers. You can visit the place or heritage site inside Kathmandu Valeey or you may simply chill with a book or laptop in your hotel- Choice is completely yours. In the evening we will invite you for the farewell dinner in Thamel's finest cultural restaurant.
Day 20 : Departure Day from Kathmandu (1400m)
This is your last day in Nepal. You may do shopping, buying some souvenirs for family and friends until your departure to airport. We will transfer you to the International Airport for your flight to your onward destination.
