Kashmir Great Lakes Trek - The Alpine Lake Paradise 7 Days Kashmir Group Trek Tour

The journey starts with a picturesque drive along the Sindh River valley to Sonamarg. The trek begins from Shitkadi, moving through forests of maple and pine before emerging into the beautiful open meadows of Shekdur. We then ascend gradually to the Nichnai campsite, offering wonderful views back into the Sonamarg valley.

Today involves a steady climb to the Nichnai Pass, providing the first major challenge and a rewarding panoramic view of the mountains. After crossing the pass, the trail descends to a wide, gentle meadow. The day concludes at the mesmerizing Vishansar Lake, a large alpine lake where we set up camp by its reflective, pristine waters.

Start with a short walk to the picturesque Kishansar Lake, situated just above Vishansar. The challenging ascent to Gadsar Pass rewards you with a stunning joint view of both lakes. The descent leads through a valley adorned with vibrant wildflowers (in season) to the secluded and serene Gadsar Lake, the prettiest lake on the entire trail.

The trail today involves crossing multiple smaller ridges and is relatively shorter, offering time to appreciate the pristine high-altitude meadows. You pass the Satsar Army check post, a significant landmark in the region, before reaching the Satsar campsite. Satsar is a collection of seven small, interconnected alpine lakes that provide stunning photographic opportunities.

Today is another exciting pass day, with a demanding climb to the Zajibal Pass. From the summit, you are treated to a spectacular view of the twin lakes, Nundkol and Gangbal, lying peacefully below. The descent is steep, leading down to the expansive campsite near Nundkol Lake, situated directly beneath the imposing Mount Harmukh.

Spend a relaxing morning by the magnificent Gangbal Lake, often considered the heart of the trek. After enjoying the serene views, begin the final, long descent towards the plains. The trail is steep and passes through dense pine forests before ending at the historical village of Naranag, where the trek concludes.

After a final mountain breakfast, board a vehicle for the scenic drive back to Srinagar. This short journey marks the official end of the Kashmir Great Lakes trek, allowing you time to reflect on the incredible sequence of alpine lakes and meadows you have witnessed over the past week.
