Lamayuru Markha Hemis Trekking Tour

On arrival at Delhi airport meet Peak Adventure Tour Executive and transfer to hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Take the morning flight for Leh from Delhi. On arrival at Leh met our representative and transfer to pre booked hotel/Guest house for relax and acclimatization. This is necessary for getting acclimatised at high altitude. Evening one can visit the color full market of Leh. Overnight in the hotel/guesthouse.

On this day you will go a sightseeing trip to some ancient monasteries in this area.
Shey Gompa is about 15 kms from Leh. It used to be the summer palace of the kings of Ladakh. There are lots of Stupas and Gompas built around the palace. Shey palace was built by Deldan Namgyal in the beginning of 17'Th century AD. Main attraction in Shey is the 12m Shakyamuni Buddha statue inside the Dresthang Gompa. Thiksey Gompa, close to Shey is about 17 kms from Leh. The monastery is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Ladakh and belongs to the Gelukspa order. Hemis, about 45 kms south of Leh it is one of the most famous and largest monastery in Ladakh. It belongs to the Drukpa order and was founded in the early 17'Th century. The setting is perfect with the monastery cradled in a lovely valley, surrounded by streams and fronted by long Mani walls. Overnight stay at the guest house.

In the morning we will take a drive towards Lamayuru which 130 kms from Leh. We will passes enroute Basgo, Likir and Alchi. On arrival visit the Lamayuru monastery and then meet trekking crew and start then start trek towards Shilla cross Pritintik La (3750 Mts). Overnight at the camp.

In the morning visit the Wanla monastery and later after breakfast trek to Hinju. Today we will walk through a narrow gorge until we reach a conventional Rangthak (flour mill) at the far end of the village. The trail will then cut through the village of Hinju (3720 m) generally 2 km below our campsite. On arrival set out camp for overnight stay.

After breakfast get ready for a har day trek. Today trek is a bit hard you have to climb a pass called, Kungski-La (4400 mts) from the top of this pass one can see Hinju village on one side and Sumdha village on the other side. Overnight in tent.

Today we have some river crossings enroute to Sumdha village & will also across a small pass. Today we will camp at Dundun Chan Larcha. Overnight in tent.

Dundun Chan-la is (3950 Mts.). The trek is easy and very scenic. One can see even Khardung la pass across the valley. Camp at Chilling, this village has gold smiths famous for local golden jewelry - it is said that the gold comes from the local mines. Overnight in camp.

After breakfast starts trek towards Skiu. The walk is not as easy one; today we will cross the Zangskar River with a cable car along with our luggage as ponies cannot cross the river. Another crew will be waiting for us on the other side. Overnight camp at Skiu.

Today we have several river crossings, the trek is easy. Overnight camp at Sara. Trek time: 5 hours.

We will cross the Markha village enroute to Hankar Yogma camping ground. We will stop at the Markha village and visit the monastery also, but will not camp at Markha. Horses do not get fodder easily here. Overnight in camp. Trek time: 7 hours.

A bit beyond Hankar, leave a broad valley on the right-side. The valley narrows and goes higher. The river is far to the left. Walk near a small lake, then across pastures to Nimaling. This is one of the most beautiful high valleys of Ladakh (4750 Mts). Overnight at camp.

Long climb along the mountainside then some zigzag up to the Kongmaru La (5150 Mts). Long descent into gorges several easy stream crossing. Leave the sometimes in the riverbed right-side, and again on the left bank arrive in Shang Sumdo. Overnight at camp.

Take the riverbed again, then a good footpath through large blocks. You reach the motorable trail Pass a series of Chortens. Leave Martselang village on the right and follow a gentle rising trail to Hemis. Overnight in camp.

After sightseeing of the Hemis monastery, leave for Leh, enroute visit Thiksey and Shey monasteries.

Transfer to the airport time to catch flight for Delhi. On arrival met at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.
