Up on arrival in in Vientiane, our Laos tour guide will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. After check in, you will then embark on a sightseeing tour where you can revel in the French-colonial beauty of this charming town. You will take in some of the local favourite sites including the religious museums. The Religious Museum housed in the temple at Wat Sisaket is the oldest temple to have survived the Siamese war of 1828. It features the famous cloister, the wall of which features 6,840 ceramic and silver statues of the Buddha. Wat Ho Prakeo is the former home-temple of the Emerald Buddha statue or Pra Keo, but today it contains a collection of Buddha statues, antiques and all artifacts found in and around Vientiane. Pha That Luang is a gold-covered large Buddhist Stupa. Since its initial establishment suggested to be in the 3rd century, the stupa has undergone several reconstructions until the 1930s due to foreign invasions to the area. It is generally regarded as the most important national monument in Laos and a national symbol. Patouxay (Arch de Triumph), is an impressive war monument in the centre of Vientiane. It was was built between 1957 and 1968. The Patuxai is dedicated to those who fought in the struggle for independence from France. At the end of the day your tour guide will transfer you back to your hotel for your overnight stay in Vientiane. We recommend you spend your evening in one of the many stilted restaurants overlooking the river where you can sample excellent food and enjoy a Beer Lao while watching the sun go down.
Today your tour guide and driver will take you to visit Xieng Khuan, also known as Buddha Park. The area is a sculpture park located 25 km southeast from Vientiane containing over 200 Hindu and Buddhist statues and was created by mystical monks on parkland located by the Mekong River and near the impressive Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge. Have your camera ready as there will be many photo opportunities within the Park and also of the bridge. You will return in the late afternoon for your final overnight stay in Vientiane.
