The Lemosho Route is one of the most beautiful and rewarding ways to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Approaching the mountain from the western side, it offers scenic rainforest trails, panoramic ridge views, and excellent acclimatization. This route is known for its high summit success rate and is recommended for trekkers seeking a less crowded and more immersive experience.

Day wise Itinerary

Day 1 Londorossi Gate → Big Tree Camp (mti Mkubwa)

Hiking Time: 3–4 Hours | Habitat: Rainforest
Registration at Londorossi Gate followed by a trek through beautiful, dense rainforest. Look out for colobus and blue monkeys. Overnight at Mti Mkubwa Camp.

Day 2 Mti Mkubwa → Shira 2 Camp

Hiking Time: 6–8 Hours | Habitat: Moorland
Ascend from the forest into the heather and moorland as you cross the Shira Plateau. Enjoy panoramic views before reaching Shira 2 Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 Shira 2 → Lava Tower (4,630m) → Barranco Camp

Hiking Time: 6–7 Hours | Habitat: Alpine Desert
Gradual climb to Lava Tower for acclimatization, then descend to Barranco Camp. This “climb high, sleep low” strategy boosts your summit success.

Day 4 Barranco Camp → Karanga Camp

Hiking Time: 3–5 Hours
Climb the famous Barranco Wall — an exciting and rewarding scramble — then continue across ridges and valleys to Karanga Camp.

Day 5 Karanga Camp → Barafu Camp

Hiking Time: 3–4 Hours | Habitat: Alpine Desert
A steady ascent to Barafu Camp, your base for the summit attempt. Early dinner and rest before midnight wake-up.

Day 6 Barafu Camp → Uhuru Peak → Mweka Camp

Hiking Time: 12–15 Hours | Habitat: Arctic Summit
Start your summit push around midnight. Reach Stella Point and then Uhuru Peak (5,895m) at sunrise. After celebration and photos, descend to Barafu for a meal before continuing down to Mweka Camp. Overnight at Mweka Camp.

Day 7 Mweka Camp → Mweka Gate → Hotel

Hiking Time: 3–4 Hours | Habitat: Rainforest
Final descent through lush rainforest back to Mweka Gate. Collect your summit certificates and transfer to your hotel in Moshi.

Terms & Conditions

1. Booking and Reservations
A booking with Roots of Africa Kilimanjaro Expedition is confirmed once a deposit has been received
and a written confirmation has been sent to the client. By confirming a booking, the client agrees to
these Terms and Conditions.
2. Payments
A deposit (usually 30% of the total trip cost) is required to secure your booking. The remaining balance
must be paid before the tour begins or upon arrival in Moshi unless otherwise agreed.
Payments may be made through:
 Bank transfer
 Online transfer
 Cash payment upon arrival
3. Cancellation Policy
If a client cancels their trip, the following cancellation fees may apply:
 More than 30 days before the trip – deposit refundable (minus bank charges)
 15–30 days before the trip – 50% cancellation fee
 Less than 15 days before the trip – 100% cancellation fee
4. Changes to Itinerary
While every effort is made to follow the planned itinerary, Roots of Africa Kilimanjaro Expedition
reserves the right to make changes due to:
 Weather conditions
 Safety concerns
 National park regulations
 Unforeseen circumstances
Any changes will be made with the safety and comfort of clients as the top priority.
5. Travel Insurance
All clients are strongly advised to obtain comprehensive travel insurance that covers:
 Trip cancellation
 Medical expenses
 Emergency evacuation
 High altitude trekking such as climbing Mount Kilimanjaro
6. Health and Fitness
Clients participating in mountain trekking must be in good physical condition. It is the responsibility of
the client to ensure they are medically fit for activities such as climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.
7. Responsibility and Liability
Roots of Africa Kilimanjaro Expedition acts only as a tour operator and shall not be held responsible for:
 Personal injury or illness
 Loss or damage of personal belongings
 Delays caused by weather, road conditions, or airline schedules
 Any events beyond our control
8. Client Conduct
Clients are expected to respect local cultures, wildlife, and environmental regulations while visiting
national parks and communities in Tanzania.
9. Passport, Visa, and Travel Documents
All travelers must have valid travel documents including passports and visas required for entry into
Tanzania. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure these documents are valid before travel.
10. Acceptance of Terms
By booking a tour with Roots of Africa Kilimanjaro Expedition, the client acknowledges that they have
read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
