Meal with a Goan Family Tour

Meet your local at your hotel. Later proceed towards the only ethnographic museum in Goa – Goa Chitra museum. As the founder of the museum, Victor Hugo Gomez, will explain on the purpose of the museum, which was to preserve as much local history as possible by collecting original (restored as needed) implements. The founder has undertaken this task on his own and does not receive any government funding for his efforts. He has quite a collection and it is housed very nicely. A guided tour is worth it as it will provide more insight as to the use of many of the implements.

Later take a small drive around the village of Margao, In early centuries it was termed as Goa’s second best city after the Capital Panjim city, but today Margao is the biggest city of Goa. It is the busiest city, lively and full of crowds, having one of the largest markets with huge variety in Goa. You will find stalls with large variety of items such as dry fruits, masalas, vegetables, fresh spices, sweet jaggery, baked Goan breads, terracotta pots, etc.

We later head towards to meet a local Goan couple over lunch at a Portuguese manor house, divided and lived in by feuding families. Whilst the different artifacts and architecture are interesting, the best part is the people showing us around the house; true characters who seem to be carrying out their own "keeping up the Jones” in Goa.

Lunch is served at a restored vicarage - a stunning labour of love of a Goan couple who have painstakingly restored the property to its former glory. Then comes the best part of the day, sit out on the covered veranda overlooking the beautiful gardens - lunch. Dish after dish of beautiful, home-cooked food...prawns, curry, fish, rice, vegetables, bread...Delicious Goan food with the Portuguese influence shining through.

Post lunch, we drive you to your hotel and depart with all smiles.
