This itinerary is perfect if you are flying in and out of Nairobi (Jomo Kenyatta International Airport) and want to experience a mix of urban culture and accessible wildlife. Nairobi is unique because it's the only city in the world with a national park within its city limits.
Morning (7:00 AM - 12:00 PM): Start your day with an early morning game drive at Nairobi National Park. This is the best time to spot wildlife as the animals are most active. You can see lions, rhinos, giraffes, buffalo, and more, all with the incredible backdrop of the city skyline.
Late Morning (12:00 PM - 1:00 PM): Visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Elephant Orphanage. This is a famous organization that rescues and rehabilitates orphaned elephants. The public viewing is a unique opportunity to watch the baby elephants being fed and playing in the mud.
Afternoon (1:00 PM - 3:00 PM): Head to the nearby Giraffe Centre. Here, you can get up close and personal with the endangered Rothschild's giraffes, feeding them from a raised platform. It's a fun and interactive experience.
Evening (3:00 PM onwards): Immerse yourself in Kenyan culture at Bomas of Kenya, a cultural center that showcases traditional village life, dances, and music from various Kenyan tribes. For dinner, consider the famous Carnivore Restaurant, known for its "beast of a feast" of various grilled meats.
Morning (9:00 AM - 1:00 PM): Explore the city's history at the Nairobi National Museum. The museum provides insight into Kenya's rich history, art, and natural heritage. You can also visit the adjacent Snake Park.
Afternoon (1:00 PM onwards): Go shopping for souvenirs at the famous Maasai Market. This open-air market sells a wide variety of handcrafted goods, including jewelry, textiles, carvings, and artwork. Note that the market's location changes depending on the day of the week, so be sure to check the schedule.
Evening: Enjoy a relaxing dinner at one of Nairobi's many restaurants or explore the vibrant nightlife in the Westlands area before heading to the airport.
