Ngorongoro Crater Day Trip
Morning (05:30–06:00 AM – Departure from Arusha/Moshi)
Your adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel. Enjoy a scenic drive past rural villages, coffee plantations, and the highlands as you head toward Ngorongoro.
Mid-Morning (09:00 AM – Arrive at Ngorongoro Conservation Area)
Reach the crater’s rim and take in the breathtaking views before descending 600 meters to the crater floor. Begin your game drive across grasslands, swamps, and the soda lake teeming with flamingos.
Late Morning (10:00 AM – Game Drive on the Crater Floor)
Search for the Big Five and many other animals including wildebeest, zebras, hippos, hyenas, and jackals. The crater offers one of the highest densities of wildlife in Africa.
Lunch (12:30 PM – Picnic by the Hippo Pool)
Enjoy your packed picnic lunch at a scenic spot near the hippo pool. Watch the hippos as they wallow and listen to the sounds of the wild.
Afternoon (01:30 PM – Continue Game Drive)
Explore further corners of the crater floor, with opportunities to spot black rhino, cheetah, or large elephant bulls. Birdwatchers will also enjoy spotting crowned cranes, ostriches, and kori bustards.
Evening (03:30–04:00 PM – Exit Crater & Return)
Ascend the crater wall and drive back to Arusha/Moshi, arriving in the evening after a truly unforgettable day.
