The fort is dedicated to God Bhairi the god of Thakur Adivasis hence it is called as Dhak - Bhairi. The fort of Dhak-Bhairi was discovered by great historian Mr. Gopal Nilkanth Dandekar. He said that when Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj once visited these religious caves of God Bhairi, Maharaj gifted a golden plate to the deity.
There are utensils in the caves which can be used for cooking. After using the utensils one has to clean the utensils and keep where they were. People say that if any one tries to steal the utensils or take them away he/she dies.Any Kind of personal expenditure (cold drink/minaral water etc.)
