Our guided mountain bike tour through the foothills of Mount Meru is a fun cultural immersion experience. Guests will explore two villages, Patandi and Akheri, where they will discover a bit about local culture and daily life in Tanzania.

Tour duration : Approximately 2 hours
Additional 1 hour transfer time (return) for hotels in the downtown/ Arusha city center area
Additional 2.5-3 hours transfer time (return) for hotels in the Moshi area

Day wise Itinerary

Day 1

Arusha

This is a short 2-hour tour that provides visitors with an authentic experience of daily life in the small, charming villages surrounding Mount Meru on the outskirts of Arusha city center. We will set out from Lake Duluti and cycle through the villages of Patandi and Akheri. Participants get to witness Tanzanian culture firsthand, interact with villagers and curious children and observe typical daily activities of local farming communities. On the way back we will also visit a small home-brewery that produces “mbege” a traditional banana beer from the Chagga ethnic group.

The tour ends at Lake Duluti at 12-12:30pm.

If clients choose to include food as an add-on they will have lunch around 12:30 pm
A typical local lunch may consist of an assortment of meat (beef or chicken), rice, pilau (spiced rice), chapati (flat bread), beans, vegetables, salad and fresh fruit. Water or fruit juice included.
Clients with dietary restrictions or specific requests must advise accordingly in advance.

Visas and other immigration requirements are the responsibility of the client.
In the event that we have to cancel a tour due to adverse weather conditions, clients will be notified and fully reimbursed.
We recommend clothes and shoes that are comfortable for walking/hiking, something warm for the evenings or a jacket during the cooler months (June-August).
