A part of the unexplored Markha Valley Trek in the Ladakh region, the Spituk Stok Trek is one of the most beautiful and easy treks in Ladakh that cuts across the stunning Stok La at 4900 meters. It is where one can enjoy the panoramic view of the legendary Indus valley, en route the hidden Rumbak village. The ramp to Stok La also encourages trekkers to mull over the history of Ladakh by offering access to Stok Palace museum that displays a chronicle history of several Ladakhi rulers.
The Spituk Stok Trek is a niche journey for travellers seeking a pleasure hike. Following a contrasting landscape, where the barren hills slowly mix with greenery moving into the Zingchen valley and cut by the River Rumbak, the trail truly intends to get a flavour of Ladakh even being low on time.

Set in the midst of snowcapped mountains, the Rumbak village that lies in the route of the strenuous Stok Kangri Trek showcases the colourful and wild nature dotted with flora and fauna. Walking and exploring the ambiance is more than a treasure hunt rewarded by the sights of Blue Sheep, Argali and if Lucky then Tibetan Wolf and if Fortunate then Snow Leopard. Nonetheless Rumbak is also an abode of various migratory birds and thus offering some serious birding.

Day wise Itinerary

Day 1

Delhi - Leh

In the morning, fly from Delhi to Leh. On arrival at Ladakh, meet our representative. Check-in to the pre-booked hotel. Take rest and be acclimatized. Visit the local market of Leh in the evening. Overnight stay in the hotel.
Day 2

Leh - Shey - Thiksey - Hemis

Today, we shall go on a sightseeing tour to some important monasteries in the area. We will be visiting Shey Gompa, which was once the summer capital of Ladakh kings; Thiksey Gompa, which is said to be one of the most beautiful structures in Ladakh and the famed Hemis Monastery belonging to Drukpa Order. Overnight stay at the guest house.
Day 3

Leh - Spituk - Zingchen

Post breakfast, we will drive to Spituk (8 kilometers from Leh). The trek begins here at the bridge over the Indus River around a kilometer away from the west of Spituk Village. We will trek an easy trail to Zingchen. Set out a camp after reaching Zingchen. Enjoy dinner and overnight stay in the camp.
Day 4

Rumbak - Stok La - Camp Site

Today, we will up to 4900-meter Stok Pass also renowned as Namlung. It takes less than 1.5 hours in ascending to Stok La. We shall walk about 10 minutes in the east side to find the campsite. Overnight stay in the tent.
Day 5

Camp Site - Stok - Leh

Post breakfast, we shall take an easy trek to the hill along the stream on the left bank as it leads towards the north. The track is easy and wide. The wild roses and willows adorn the trail. On arrival, explore Stok Palace. Overnight stay in a hotel in Leh.
Day 6

Leh - Delhi

In the morning transfer to hotel to catch a flight to Delhi. A drive to Manali or Srinagar can also be arranged on request. It takes two days to complete the journey by road. The overnight halts during this journey can be either Kargil, which lies on Leh-Srinagar Highway, or Sarchu, which lies on the Leh-Manali Highway.

The whole trip worked very well. Details of the offer very clear with accommodation options spelt out clearly when booking Booking Fairly straightforward, payment secure.
