Set off at 6 AM, after an early breakfast, for the Savuti Marsh Excursion: a six-hour journey into the remote western reaches of Chobe National Park. The excursion includes some scenic stops – including tea or coffee and refreshments – for instance at the iconic Cathedral of Baobabs, a picture-perfect setting. Guided by experts who know the bush inside out, you’ll explore a rich patchwork of landscapes, from waterholes and marshes to baobab forests, riverbanks and open grasslands. Highlights include Harvey’s Pan, the Savuti sand ridge, Kudu Hills and Quarry Hill, where ancient Bushman rock paintings offer a glimpse into the past. Expect abundant wildlife, from elephant and buffalo herds to diverse birdlife, before returning to the lodge between 1 and 2 PM, just in time for lunch.
