Transfer from Keflavik Airport to your accommodation in Reykjavík where you‘ll spend the night. We‘ll provide some ideas to help you explore Iceland's capital on your own.
Midgard is a place where time ceases to matter. Located deep in the Highlands of Central Iceland, literally in the middle of nowhere, Midgard is only reachable by super jeep. On our way there we have to travel the vast Sprengisandur route and make our way through the mountains, finally arriving in Midgard, a very rewarding and most exhilarating experience. Located far from human light pollution, here you are in the best place to view the Northern Lights; the intensity of the Northern Lights, the stars (and shooting stars) and the feeling of “nothingness/vastness” is a once in a lifetime experience. At Midgard no one ever gets bored. Our winter days are spent on playing in the snow with the “toys” you have only dreamed of – snowmobiles, super jeeps, snowkites, snowshoes, ice fishing – whilst all the time learning basic survival skills under professional guidance. During the winter we collect water from the nearest river for our use. The hut has a toilet. The Midgard hut is warmed up the old fashioned way using fire, bringing that special up-in-the- mountains feeling. Evenings are spent in total relaxation in front of the open fire, telling stories, playing cards and barbecuing Icelandic delicacies. We might add in the Golden Circle (Thingvellir, Geysir and Gullfoss) on our way to/from the interior Highlands and, in good conditions, Landmannalaugar, a fascinating and colorful geothermal pearl in the wilderness, might also be visited. The weather and conditions are always variable (simply adding to the fun and enjoyment) and always an adventure can most certainly be guaranteed. Drop off at Reykjavík hotel at end of day 3 where you will spend your final night.
