After breakfast we have arranged guided walking tour, visiting the bazaar and temples of old part of Kathmandu Durbar Square. Nepal’s hustling-bustling capital is a captivating mix of spice sellers and potters, rickshaws and sacred cows, all crowded together amidst a city of vibrant noise and colour. Our sightseeing this morning takes in the sumptuous majesty of Durbar Square and its collection of ornate palaces, courtyards and temples spanning some three centuries of dynastic rule by Malla and Shah kings. We’ll see the Great Bell and the fearsome image of the six-armed Kala Bhairab (destroctive menifestation of Lord Shive), the magnificent Taleju Temple and the Kasthamandap, the oldest building in the Kathmandu Valley. We will also visit the Asan Bazaar and the Kumari Ghar, home to the Kumari Devi, a living goddess worshipped by both followers of the Hindu and Buddhist faiths. This afternoon we will then have a full briefing on the trekking days ahead and take the opportunity to visit a local hire shop to pick up any last minute equipment still needed. You’ll be transferred to the domestic airport this morning we take the short 40 minutes flight to Lukla, hopefully enjoying the spectacular views of Gauri Shankar(7415m), Melungtse (7181m) and Numbur peak (6955m) en route. Please be aware that adverse weather conditions and other local factors can cause delays and even cancellations and although seats are booked and confirmed well in advance, it may be necessary to adjust the itineary to make full use of your time. Arriving in Lukla we will meet up with our Sherpa guides and crew and begin the descent down towards the village of Choplung. We then head north, following the east bank of the Dudh Koshi (milk river) to the typical Sherpa village of Ghat (2545m), before crossing the river to our final destination for the day in Phakding (2652m). After breakfast we leave Phakding village and continue along the westernbank of the river, following a fairly level trail initially that leads into the Sagarmatha National Park at Monzo (2835m). The journey takes us through a landscape of pine, rhododendron and Juniper forest, crossing the Dudh Koshi on a couple of occasions and ascending to the village of Chomoa. After lunch we then begin the long ascent to Namche Bazaar, a fairly strenuous 668m climb that should afford us our first views of Everest and Lhotse as we follow a meandering trail that leads through more pine forest up to the horshoe-shaped bowl containing the Sherpa capital village of Namche at 3446m. This village is situated high above the Bhote Koshi Gorge, Namche is the centre of Sherpa life in the Upper Khumbu region and its bustling market and steep, narrow streets provide plenty of colour and interest. We have an extra day here to help acclimatize to the altitude, which affords an ideal opportunity to visit the Sagarmatha National Park headquarters this morning, as well as the nearby Sherpa Museum. There are some spectacular views of Ama Dablam, Everest, Nuptse and Lhotse from here and this afternoon there is a chance to enjoy an optional hike along the Bhote Koshi Valley towards Phurte (3500m), a walk of some two hours that will involve an initial steep climb, but does present some superb views across the surrounding landscapes to the mountains beyond. Alternatively you might just like to enjoy the atmosphere of Namche itself, doing a little bit shopping amongst its myriad of tiny stalls, or watching the bustling chaos of street life as yaks, trekkers and sherpas vie for space amongst its narrow lanes. We walk behind Namche Bazaar climbing up steeply sometime through Junipers bush all the way up to the (now unused) small airstrip at Shyangboche(3730m), and continue on climbing to the ridge taking in the impressive views from the Everest View Hotel and or perhaps travelling via Khunde and the Hillary Hospital, built by the HimalayanTrust, a charity established by Sir Edmund Hillary to assist the Sherpa people. On our ascent (depending upon which route we take) we may pass the Government Yak breeding centre. Our route today affords us some fine views of great ridge of Lhotse Nuptse, Everest,Thamserku, Kangtega, Ama Dablam and Khumbila. A traditional Sherpa community who lives here in this village for hundred of years which lies below the sacred face of Khumbi-La. This remarkable village is home to the world’s highest bakery and also the school established by Sir Edmund Hillary in 1960, which has become an important centre of learning for children from the outlying villages and can hold up to 500 students. There will be a chance to visit both establishment today and also possibly encounter the brightly coloured Impeyan pheasant, Nepal’s national bird. Leaving this village we walk little down and take left turn following the trail to Gokyo valley climbing steeply for couple of hours to Mong La Chorten.It’s a pass where you’ll have tea break.From here the trail switch backs down hill through pine forest to Phortse Thagnak for lunch.This place is situated bank of the Dudha Koshi from where you can get cool breeze.You’ll go across the river by a suspension bridge and then climb steeply again through birch trees to the village of Phortse(3800m).You can walk to the top of the village where you’ll visit the impressive monastery which is recently re-built by local people. We follow the trail high above the Imja Khola valley overlooking down Thyngboche monastery otherside is very impressive.We’ll continue on a quiter path which undulates for a couple of hours with few steep sections to Pangboche village(3995m). You’ll visit one of the oldest monastery in this village.This village pangboche is the last permanent settlement towards Everest Base Camp and continuing up through this village and taking in the majestic sight of Ama Dablam as we go. Climbing above the tree line we then cross the confluence of the Khumbu and Imja Khola rivers and continue climbing up towards the village of Dingboche (4360m), our final destination for the day. The extensive stone walled fields of this village produce barley (for tsampa porridge) -the highest altitude at which this crop is grown in Nepal. This is a summer settlement village.From here you’ll get a 360 degree panoramic view of the snow capped mountains because they all sorround around us.We spend a day at Dingboche to continue our acclimatisation. Those adapting well to the altitude can climb Nangkartshang Peak at 5,100m for the great views of Makalu,Lhotse, Chalotse, Tawoche and Ama Dablam. The trail climbs steeply out of Dingboche past a chorten and ascends the valley gradually to Dugla( 4620m) at the end of the terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. From here we have a short steep climb up to Chukpo Lari, a beautiful, yet poignant place where there is a line of memorials in tribute to the climbers who have died on Everest and other peaks and from where we have a beautiful panorama of the peaks lying on the Nepal-Tibet border. The trail then eases off as we follow the valley to Lobuje (4,930m) a tiny hamlet with a few teahouses. The sunset on Nuptse is not to be missed. A very long, hard day today as we leave very early, following the Khumbu Glacier northwards to Gorak Shep (5,180m). After a rest and something to eat we trek across the sandy flat at Gorak Shep and climb onto the lateral moraine of the Khumbu glacier. The trail ascends the side of the glacier for a couple of hours before finally descending onto the rocky glacial moraine itself. The trail winds up and down through fascinating ice seracs to the area known as Everest Base Camp, where in spring, we might see some of the expedition teams as they prepare to climb the mountain. From the Base Camp we get fantastic close up views of the Khumbu Ice Fall and we can appreciate just how difficult it is to negotiate a route through the huge blocks of ice. Nuptse towers above us and Pumori rears up behind us from Base Camp. After a short photo stop we retrace our steps to Gorak Shep. Overnight tea house, Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner

For those who are still energetic, today is a another hard day as we climb steeply 365m above Gorak Shep to the small peak of Kala Pattar, ‘Black Rock’, at 5,545m from where we can look down over the base camps of the various Everest expeditions.This climb affords a most magnificent view of the Khumbu Glacier and above all a close up view of the world’s highest mountain. We return to Gorak Shep and retrace our steps to Lobuje for lunch and then continue on down the valley to the lower altitude of Pheriche(4242m) for the night. (Please note that the walk to Everest Base Camp and the climb of Kala Pattar are both tough. Descending through Pheriche, we cross a small bridge and have a short climb up to the memorial Chortens before descending to join the main Imja Khola Valley. We follow the valley down to Pangboche through an alpine meadow landscape. We drop down to the rushing river then walk through the peaceful rhododendron forests to the village of Devoche from where we climb back up to Thyangboche(3870) on the ridge. At this village there is a very important monastery for the Sherpa people in Khumbu region. All those climbing expeditions to Everest, before proceeding towards Base Camp they do special Puja or prayer at this sacred place to bring good luck on Everest.You should have time to look round this monastery.We descend off the ridge to Phunki Tenga and walk back to Namche Bazaar along a beautiful undulating trail high above the Dudh Koshi river. Descending through Namche Bazaar, we pick up our outward trail again towards Chaunrikhara. Here we leave the main trail and climb the short distance to the airstrip at Lukla.
