  • Day 1

    Arrive Paro & Paro-Thimphu (Distance: 54 Km, estimated driving time: 1 hr)

    • Arrive at Paro by Drukair flight, Royal Bhutan Airline. You will be welcomed by our representative who will be your tour guide during your entire tour in Bhutan.
    • Stop Near Tachog Lhakhang (Temple of the Hill of the Excellent Horse) is a must-stop for a quick photo and a bit of history. The Iron Bridge Builder: It was built in the 15th century by Thangtong Gyalpo, a legendary Tibetan polymath, architect, and civil engineer. He is famous for building 108 iron chain bridges across Tibet and Bhutan. The Bridge Experience: To reach the temple, you cross a traditional iron chain suspension bridge over the Pa Chhu River. While the original was washed away in a 1969 flood, it was restored in 2005 using the original centuries-old iron links. Private Heritage: It is a private monastery still maintained by the direct descendants of Thangtong Gyalpo.

    Thimphu Sightseeing Drive to Paro 1h 15m (49.9 km)

    • visit the largest Buddha Dordenma (Buddha Point): A massive 169ft bronze statue gilded in gold. It houses 125,000 smaller Buddha statues inside!
    •Simply Bhutan Museum: This "living" museum is highly interactive. You can try Archery (the national sport), taste Ara (local rice wine), and see a demonstration of traditional house building.
    •Motithang Takin Preserve: See the Takin, Bhutan's national animal. Legend says the "Divine Madman" created this creature by joining a goat's head to a cow's body.
    •Sangaygang Viewpoint: A hilltop covered in colorful prayer flags offering a panoramic view of the entire Thimphu valley.
    • View Tashichho Dzong: this grand fortress which serves as the government's seat and the King's office.
    • Drive to Paro.

    Paro Hike to Tiger Nest.

    •The Iconic Tiger's Nest Trek. Dedicate the full day to hiking up to Taktsang Goemba (Tiger's Nest Monastery). This is the highlight of any trip to Bhutan. The trek takes a full day and requires good fitness. best time is to hike early Moring so you can return to base camp at evening. To give your itinerary a truly magical touch, here is a short, captivating story and deeper details about Paro Taktsang, the "Tiger’s Nest." The Legend of the Flying Tigress In the 8th century, the Himalayas were a wild and untamed land. It is said that the great saint Guru Padmasambhava (the Second Buddha) transformed his consort, Yeshe Tsogyal, into a flaming tigress. About Tiger Nest On her back, he flew across the snow-capped peaks from Tibet to a terrifying 3,000-foot cliff in the Paro Valley. He chose a dark, narrow cave on the Cliffside to meditate and subdue the local demons that were obstructing the spread of Buddhism. He meditated there for three years, three months, three weeks, and three days. Today, that cave is the very heart of the monastery, and the energy of his meditation is said to still vibrate within the stone walls.
