The Journey: Upon exiting Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), you will board your safari vehicle and drive southwest through the Great Rift Valley directly to the Maasai Mara. Arrival: You will reach your camp just outside the reserve boundary in time for lunch. Afternoon: Keep it completely relaxed then game drive in the afternoon

Wildlife Highlights to Look for the Big Five: The Mara is one of the rare places if lucky you can spot lions (including famous, black-manned lions), leopards, elephants, buffalos, and rhinos all in a single morning. Cheetahs: Keep an eye out for these sleek predators, which are known to confidently walk right up to safari vehicles to find shade or climb the roof for a high vantage point. Birding Paradise: Scan the skies and trees for nearly 500 recorded bird species, including 16 types of eagles, 6 vulture species, and the Kori bustard—the world's heaviest flying bird.

After breakfast, you will head to Lake Naivasha—the highest and most beautiful freshwater lake in the Rift Valley (1,910m) Morning: Drive from the Maasai Mara to Lake Naivasha and check into your budget camp or cabin. OPTIONAL Afternoon Activity (Boat & Walking Safari): Boat Safari Excursion: Head out on the fresh water to cruise past wallowing hippo pods. Watch for giant kingfishers and herons hunting among the dense papyrus reeds along the shoreline. Crescent Island Walking Safari: The boat will drop you off at this private sanctuary. Because there are no large predators, you can safely guide-walk right next to wild giraffes, zebras, and waterbucks (Hell’s Gate National Park): Rent a bicycle at the gate to ride alongside zebras and warthogs through the towering basalt cliffs. This dramatic landscape famously inspired the animators of The Lion King movie. The Gorge Hike: Head down into the deep, twisting volcanic gorges where various movies have been filmed.
