    Lake Manyara National Park

Discover Tarangire National Park – Tanzania’s Untouched Safari Treasure Tarangire National Park is one of Tanzania’s most captivating and diverse wildlife sanctuaries. Located in the country’s northern safari circuit, about 120 kilometers from Arusha, this park is often overshadowed by the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater – but for many travelers, Tarangire ends up being their favorite destination. A Land of Giants – Baobabs and Elephants The landscape of Tarangire is defined by its iconic baobab trees, ancient and towering, creating a surreal and majestic backdrop for your safari. But it’s not just the trees that are enormous here – Tarangire is famous for its massive elephant herds, often numbering in the hundreds. These gentle giants are easily spotted, especially during the dry season when they gather along the life-giving Tarangire River. A Wildlife Wonderland Tarangire is one of the best places in Tanzania to witness a wide range of animals in their natural habitat. You’re almost guaranteed to see: Zebras, Giraffes, Buffaloes, Wildebeest, Baboons and vervet monkeys Numerous antelope species, including impalas and waterbucks Birdwatcher’s Paradise With over 550 recorded bird species, Tarangire is a dream for bird lovers. From vibrant lilac-breasted rollers to the stately kori bustard, the diversity of birdlife is remarkable, especially during the wet season. Scenic Diversity Tarangire’s terrain is a striking blend of open savannah, wooded hills, seasonal swamps, and acacia woodlands, with the Tarangire River running through it. During the dry season (June to October), this river becomes a vital water source, drawing animals from across the region – making it one of the most reliable places for game viewing. Ngorongoro Marera Mountain View Lodge is your base along the road between Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara National Park. It's down a quiet road so you should have a good night's sleep to go with the fabulous views out over the countryside. The amenities include a restaurant, bar and swimming pool. The rooms are excellent, with plenty of character and some have views. Meal Plan – Day 2 Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Accommodation | Day 2 Ngorongoro Marera Mountain View Lodge Lodge

    Serengeti National Park
    Serengeti National Park

Serengeti National Park – The Heartbeat of the African Safari No name captures the spirit of Africa quite like the Serengeti. World-renowned for its sweeping plains, dramatic wildlife encounters, and the awe-inspiring Great Migration, the Serengeti is the crown jewel of Tanzania’s national parks and a must-visit on any safari itinerary. When people imagine the Serengeti—golden grasslands stretching to the horizon, acacia-dotted savannahs, and lions resting under the midday sun—they’re almost always picturing the Central Serengeti, also known as the Seronera Valley. Why Visit the Central Serengeti? The Central Serengeti offers year-round wildlife viewing and is the most wildlife-rich region of the park. This area boasts a permanent water supply, attracting animals in large numbers even during the dry season. It’s one of the best places in Africa to spot the "Big Five"—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros—alongside cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, and countless herbivores like zebras, giraffes, impalas, and wildebeest. Key Highlights: Home to some of the densest populations of big cats in the world Excellent predator sightings including lions, leopards, and cheetahs Beautiful acacia woodlands, rolling hills, and endless open plains Year-round wildlife viewing, with the bonus of the Great Migration passing through (typically April to June and October to November) A Front-Row Seat to the Great Migration Depending on your travel dates, you may witness the Great Wildebeest Migration—the largest land migration on Earth. Over 1.5 million wildebeest, along with hundreds of thousands of zebras and gazelles, thunder across the plains in search of fresh grazing. This natural phenomenon, accompanied by dramatic river crossings and intense predator action, is one of the most unforgettable wildlife spectacles in the world. Scenic Beauty and Iconic Landscapes The Central Serengeti is not just about animals—it’s also about the breathtaking landscapes. Think: Endless sun-drenched plains Solitary flat-topped acacia trees Dramatic sunrises and sunsets Rugged kopjes (rocky outcrops), where lions and leopards often perch for a panoramic view When to Visit Best time for the Great Migration in this region: April to June and October to November Dry season (June to October): Prime time for predator Stay at Mberesero lodge & Tented with us. Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, enjoy one last morning game drive in the Serengeti, making the most of your final hours in this legendary landscape. As you slowly make your way toward the park gate, keep your eyes open for wildlife—you never know what you might encounter. Early mornings are prime time for spotting predators on the move, as lions, leopards, and hyenas often remain active before the day heats up. You’ll also have the chance to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, and various antelope along the way. This is your final opportunity to soak in the vast Serengeti plains, dotted with acacia trees and alive with wildlife, before saying goodbye to one of Africa’s most iconic destinations. In the afternoon, continue your journey to Karatu, a charming town nestled in the fertile highlands between the Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara. Here, you’ll check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight, resting up for the next day’s adventure. Acacia Farm Lodge is unusual in Karatu. It has elegant rooms (with mosquito nets) that you'll love returning to at the end of the day along with a restaurant, bar and massage centre. Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro Crater – Nature’s Masterpiece You never forget the first time you see Ngorongoro Crater from above. As you stand on the rim of this vast volcanic caldera, you’ll gaze down into what feels like a lost world—an ancient, self-contained ecosystem teeming with life. The view is truly breathtaking: a green patchwork of open plains, shimmering soda lakes, acacia forests, and the distant shapes of elephants and wildebeest moving across the crater floor. The descent into the crater is equally unforgettable. As your vehicle winds down the steep inner walls, you'll feel the excitement grow—because once you're on the crater floor, you're in one of the richest wildlife areas in all of Africa. Known as the "Eighth Wonder of the World," Ngorongoro is home to an incredible density of animals, including lions, hyenas, elephants, zebras, buffaloes, flamingos, and the rare and endangered black rhino. Spend the best part of your day exploring this natural sanctuary where wildlife roams freely and no human is allowed to stay overnight. It’s an experience full of wonder, connection, and the kind of quiet magic only a place like this can offer. As your time in the crater comes to an end, it’s hard not to keep looking back—trying to capture every detail in your memory. This marks the final chapter of your Tanzanian safari adventure, a journey through some of Africa’s most iconic and soul-stirring landscapes. Important Travel Tip: To make the most of your visit to Ngorongoro Crater, we strongly recommend booking a late afternoon or evening flight out of Tanzania. This will give you enough time to fully enjoy your crater game drive without feeling rushed, and still travel back to Arusha or the airport in comfort and peace. It’s the perfect way to end your safari—without missing a moment of this spectacular final destination. Meal Plan – Day 6 Breakfast & Lunch
