5 Nights / 6 Days
Northeastern Tanzania is home to Mount Kilimanjaro, which is situated three degrees south of the equator. It is the world's highest free-standing peak and the tallest mountain in Africa. Shira, Mawenzi, and our target, kibo, the tallest volcano in the center, are the three volcanoes that make up this enormous mountain. Every day of the year, Almighty Kilimanjaro offers services on all of the routes that are accessible, with daily departures. The Whiskey Route is another name for this well-traveled route. The Shira Plateau can be reached via a difficult path that wind through gorgeous forests and moorland zones. After there, it passes beneath the Southern Icefields' glaciated cliffs to connect with the Barafu Route, which leads to the summit.

The distance between Machame Gate (1500m) and Machame Camp (3000m) is roughly 18km. Machame Gate can be reached by car from Arusha in about three hours and forty five minutes and from Moshi in about forty-five minutes. Porters take over all of your supplies and equipment, and a cook will make all of your meals. The Machame route only provides tents, but the Marangu route gives lodging in huts. Once all the formalities at the gate have been completed, you will enter the jungle and start the seven-hour climb to Machame Camp, the first camp on the mountain (3000m).

After a short lunch and rest, you continue up a rocky ridge onto the Shira Plateau. By now, you will be able to see the Western Breach with its stunning glaciers in an easterly direction. You are now due west of Kibo and after a short hike, you will reach the Shira campsite at 3,840 m. The porters will boil drinking and washing water before serving dinner. The path will veer eastward today, entering a stony, semi-desert area that encircles Lava Tower. After almost five hours of walking, you arrive at an elevation of 4,630 meters. Before proceeding up the rough scree trail to Lava Tower (4,630 m), lunch is served in a designated spot. Without a doubt, this is the worst day yet. This is typically when climbers begin to experience symptoms of headaches, irritability, and dyspnea for the first time. Following lunch, you descend once more, this time by over 680 meters, to the Barranco camping location. The actual acclimatization advantage of this day is evident after arriving at Lava Tower, which is 4,600 meters above sea level. It takes roughly two hours to descend to Barranco Camp, and there are plenty of possibilities to capture stunning images of the Western Breach and Breach Wall. While you wait for your meal and overnight to be prepared, you should be able to enjoy a breathtaking sunset because the camp is located in a valley beneath the Breach and Great Barranco Wall.

Hiking Time: 2-3 hours
Distance: 3 km | 2 miles

Totally exposed to the ever-present gales, the tents are pitched on a narrow, stony, and dangerous ridge. Make sure that you familiarize yourself with the terrain before dark to avoid any accidents. The summit is now a further 1,345 m up and you will make the final ascent the same night. Prepare your equipment, ski stick, and thermal clothing for your summit attempt. This should include the replacement of your headlamp and camera batteries, and make sure you have a spare set available as well. To prevent freezing, it will be wise to carry your water in a thermal flask. Go to bed at around about 19h00 and try to get some precious rest and sleep for not more than 5 hours.

After a cup of tea and some biscuits, you will drift off into the night after waking up at around 23:30. On your way to Stella Point on the crater rim, you will ascend through thick scree in a north-westerly direction. Many climbers find this 6-hour trip to Stella Point to be the most emotionally and physically taxing part of the ascent. If the weather permits, you will be rewarded with the most spectacular sunrise you will ever witness when you pause for a little rest at Stella Point (5,685 m). You will typically experience snow throughout your two hour climb to Uhuru Peak from Stella Point. The weather will determine how much time you spend at the summit. Enjoy your success and a memorable day to remember for the rest of your life. The walk back to Barafu from the summit takes about 3 hours. Here, you will have a well-earned but short rest. Collect the rest of your gear before heading down to Mweka Camp (3,100 m) for dinner and overnight.
Elevation: 10,065 ft to 5,380 ft
Hiking Time: 3-4 hours
Distance: 10 km | 6 miles
