After landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be met by a representative from Cliff Africa Adventure before being taken to your Arusha or Moshi accommodation. The hotel will have all you need for a nice stay, including Internet connection, a swimming pool, friendly staff, hot water, and comfortable rooms. Our managers or guides will give you a briefing in the evening to ensure you are prepared to start the climb.
Londorossi Gate To Mti Mkubwa

Our driver will get you up from the hotel in the morning and take you to the Londorossi gate. You will be registered at the gate and have to sign a few documents. Following registration, you will be driven to the start of your journey, which is a rocky road that leads into the thick rainforest. To get to Mkubwa Camp, you will travel a somewhat steep path through a breathtaking, pristine natural forest. During the first two days of your journey, you will be followed by an armed ranger because this area is also home to wild game

On this day, the trek will start on a small trail that passes through the rainforest. As you climb, the forest gradually thins out and the landscape changes into heath and moorland where plants like Erica and lobelia start to dominate the landscape. You will cross the Shira Ridge and reach Shira Camp 1. Here you will stop for lunch, relax a bit and enjoy the fantastic views of Mt Meru and the Rift Valley. For the last part of the climb, you will climb another 400m in altitude. The landscape will change again at Shira Camp 2. Shira camp 2 is the final destination for this day and you will spend your evening and night there.

Although you will ascend about 740 meters today, you will only spend the night at a marginally higher elevation than you were the night before. The hike starts with a lengthy climb above the Shira Plateau toward the Lava Tower, which will enable your body to adjust to the changing climate. The hike goes past the expansive Barranco Valley, which is home to enormous Senecio plants and lobelia.

Following breakfast, you will depart Barranco and proceed to the Karanga Valley campsite by crossing the Barranco Wall and continuing on a rocky ridge. After that, you will exit Karanga and arrive at the intersection with the Mweka Trail. To be ready for the next summit night, you can unwind and stretch your legs in the afternoon.

You will proceed to the Barafu Hut on this day. You have now finished the South Circuit, which provides a variety of perspectives on the peak. Here, you will set up camp, relax, eat dinner, and get ready for the day of the summit. From here, one can see the two peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi.

You will resume your journey to the peak between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers quite early in the morning (between midnight and two in the morning). In order to reach Stella Point on the crater rim, you travel northwest and climb through thick scree. This part of the journey is the most physically and mentally taxing. If the weather permits, you will be rewarded with the most spectacular sunrise you will ever witness when you pause for a little rest at Stella Point. On your way to the summit from Stella Point, you can run into snow. You will have arrived at the highest point on both the African continent and Mount Kilimanjaro at Uhuru Peak.

To get your summit credentials, you will continue your descent after breakfast to the gate of Mweka Park. Wet and muddy conditions are possible at lower elevations. Trekking poles and gaiters are helpful. Probably lots of people will be wearing shorts and t-shirts. Upon reaching the gate, our driver will collect you and transport you back to your Arusha or Moshi Accommodation.
