Your safari starts here, and we're as excited about getting going as you are. It's one of Kenya's most beautiful parks, thanks to the fact that Mt Kilimanjaro, Africa's tallest peak (5895m), dominates most views here. Amboseli is also famous for its large population of elephants with big tusks, and you have an excellent chance of seeing lions, cheetahs, hyenas, zebras, buffaloes, giraffes, wildebeests and many gazelles while you're here. With 420 bird species recorded, it's also a great place for birding.

This morning you'll explore Tsavo East on a guided game drive where you'll hopefully see some of its elephants, big cats, and local specialties like Somali ostrich and gerenuk. Your visit to Tsavo East National Park could easily be one of the highlights of your safari. The park is known for lions (including many males which don't have manes) and elephants (which sometimes turn red after rolling in the red Tsavo dust). But you could also see gerenuk, cheetah, Somali ostrich and even the very rare hirola antelope. Birders also love this park, with more than 500 species recorded here. And the landscapes are as varied as they are special, from wide open plains in the east to the wild backcountry near the croc-filled Galana River.
