Adventure Tour – Laos

Guests will leave Luang Prabang early on the first day to drive through the mountains to the small town of Phonsavan. Upon arrival, guests will check into their hotel and go out to explore the town. While exploring, guests should make sure to visit the Mine Action Group Centre (MAG), a British organization that has helped greatly to clear the unexploded land mines left behind from the Secret War. Travelers are encouraged to visit this office and help to support this wonderful project.

Today guests will travel just outside of Phonsavan to the 3 different sites of the Plain of Jars, where they will find ancient stone jars scattered throughout the landscape. The origin of these jars is still a mystery to this day. Guests will also pay a visit to the old capital of Xieng Kuang and spoon village. Spoon village is named for the spoons in the village made from scrap metal left behind from the Secret War. After this excursion, guests will return to Phonsavan where they will have the opportunity to visit the Lone Buffalo Foundation School and volunteer their time to mingle with the local children and help them with their studies.

Guests will leave Phonsavan this morning to travel to Vieng Xai. The route taken for this journey offers some of the most spectacular views in Laos and long the way, guests will stop in the provincial capital of Sam Neua before reaching their destination. The afternoon will be spent exploring the caves that were used as the Pathet Lao headquarters and shelters during the second Indochina war.

Today guests will travel from Vieng Xai and through Sam Neau to Nam Nern. The journey will take guests through the remote Hintang Archaeological Park before meeting a guide in Ban Son Koua. The guide will take the tour on an adventure through the Nam Nern Wildlife Conservation Area, famous as one of the last places to have a breeding population of Indochinese Tigers. Guests will spend the night in the park, taking a nocturnal wildlife tour after the sun goes down.

This morning, guests will take yet another beautiful drive from Nam Nern to the riverside town of Non Khiaw. Upon arrival, guests will have the opportunity to relax and enjoy the slow and easy way of life in this little town. Have a few drinks by the river or cycle through the beautiful countryside to visit the Pha Tok Cave.

Overnight stay in Nong Khiaw.

Guests will have the morning free to trek, cycle, kayak, or relax in Nong Khiaw. After lunch, the tour will head back to Luang Prabang where guests will say their goodbyes and travel to their next destination.
