Package Overview

Sinharaja Forest Reserve is a national park and a biodiversity hotspot in Sri Lanka. It is of international significance and has been designated a Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The hilly virgin rainforest, part of the Sri Lanka lowland rain forests ecoregion, was saved from the worst of commercial logging by its inaccessibility, and was designated a World Biosphere Reserve in 1978 and a World Heritage Site in 1988. The reserve’s name translates as Kingdom of the Lion. The reserve is only 21 km (13 mi) from east to west, and a maximum of 7 km (4.3 mi) from north to south, but it is a treasure trove of endemic species, including trees, insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.

Galle Fort:

Galle fort was built first by the Portuguese, and then modified by the Dutch during the 17th century. Even today, after 400 years of existence, it looks new and polished with reconstruction work done by Archaeological Department of Sri Lanka. Today Sri Lankan government and many Dutch people who still own some of the properties inside the fort are looking at making this one of the modern wonders of the world.

Whale Watching:

The Major attractions in Mirissa are golden beaches and whales, the biggest cetacean in the world. Frequent sightings all year round have put Sri Lanka and the Mirissa area on the worlds ‘Top Hot Spots’ for Sperm and Blue whale sightings.

Udawalawe National Park lies on the boundary of Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces, in Sri Lanka. The national park was created to provide a sanctuary for wild animals displaced by the construction of the Udawalawe reservoir on the Walawe River, as well as to protect the catchment of the reservoir. The reserve covers 30,821 hectares (119.00 sq mi) of land area and was established on 30 June 1972. Before the designation of the national park, the area was used for shifting cultivation (chena farming). The farmers were gradually removed once the national park was declared. Udawalawe is an important habitat for water birds and Sri Lankan Elephants. It is a popular tourist destination and the third most visited park in the country.

Nuwara Eliya of Central Highlands of Sri Lanka at an altitude 6,200 ft above the sea level was made into a health resort by the British in the 19th century. Such is the character of the district of Nuwara Eliya, with its home gardens of plants and flowers and cultivation of vegetables, even today it is known as Little England.

The Elephant, undoubtedly the best known attraction at Yala is seen in small & large herds. Herds of spotted deer are seen all over the park. Monkeys-the pinkish rhesus and the Grey-faced Languor Monkey, live and play on the tree-tops and the ground below. Wild buffalo & wild boar could give you a good surprise & the sight of a leopard sunning itself or drinking water at a water hole could be memorable experience. The peacock is easily the most famous of the birds at Yala.

Hikkaduwa is a small town on the south coast of Sri Lanka located in the Southern Province, about 17 km north-west of Galle. Arranged around the heavily trafficked main Galle to Colombo road which runs mostly parallel to the shore, Hikkaduwa beach and night life make it a popular tourist destination. A well-known international destination for board surfing, the town was featured in an episode of Anthony Bourdain’s television show No Reservations. And Hikkaduwa is a main City that gains Tourism income to the Sri Lanka. Many tourists visits Hikkaduwa as there are so many things they can enjoy there.

Hikkaduwa Turtle Farm & Hatchery:

The turtles are one of the rare species found in the world. As far as turtles concerned, they are the top on the endangered list all around the world. There are all together seven turtle species have listed up to now, such as green turtle, hawks bill turtle, Oliver twist turtle, leather back turtle, Kemp’s ridly, and flat back. But five of these are presenting in Sri Lanka coastal area.Colombo, Sri Lanka’s bustling capital, is located on the country’s west coast and is by far the country’s biggest city, as well as its window on the world.
