Badrinath: – Badrinath enjoys its undisputed place in both the char dhams, the pan-Indian one joining Puri, Dwaraka, Rameswaram and Badri along with the Himalayan Chota Chardham consisting of Yamunotri, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Badrinath. It is located at an altitude of 3133 m above sea level and has the peaks of Nar, Narayan and Neelkanth in its beautiful backdrop. It is said that the holy site used to be rife with wild berries, jujube, ‘badri’ in the olden days, hence the name.
