Bhubu Pass Trek For 4 Nights / 5 Days Tour

Arrived Manali and Overnight Stay at hotel.

Today in the morning we assemble at the Saba restaurant on the Mall Road in Manali by 8:30 am. We will then drive down to Kullu and from Dhalpur we will take a turn into the Lug Valley. The landscape immediately changes. The Lug valley is a narrow valley as we enter it from Kullu. We drive past small villages till we reach the last village at Dalighat which is also our road head for the trek. We will find our horses and horse man who will meet us and we pack up the horses and are ready to hike. The walk to Dak Bungalow is though thick mixed forest of Deodar, Oak, Walnut, Horse Chestnut and Cedar. Keep you watch out for the rare sightings of the Western Tragopan as the Lug valley still has a sizable population of this elusive Pheasant.

Today after breakfast we will continue our climb through Oak and Deodar forest. As we get higher we get awesome views of Indrasan and Deo tibba. The Bhubu pass itself is marked by a small temple shrine of lord Ganesh. From the pass we get bigger views of the Kangra valley on the other side which we intend to enter. After the pass the walk to Jhingban us a ridge walk though open grassland and mixed forests. The views of the Kangra valley are simply stunning.

Todays we will continue with our ridge traverse and have fabulous views of small Kangra villages perched on mountain sides with terraced farms. Our nights camp is in a small forest clearing with a lovely brook flowing close by.

Today we do more traverse though open meadows and alpine pastures. Along the way we will cross a few streams and more Kangra villages where you get to see and experience some local Himachali culture and village life first hand. The walk to Mulling is a descent down to the Barot nulla and the steep climb up to the road where we will find our taxis waiting for us to drive us to Dharamshala. Enroote you can choose to stop at the small village of Barot which is also famous as a trout angling and fly fishing destination. Barot has also one of the oldest power projects in Himachal. Beyond Barot you will also drive past the town of Bir – Billing which is a famous paragliding site. Every year in the month of Oct and Nov the idyllic town of Bir transforms itself into a paragliding hub and pilots from all over the world travel here to enjoy the clear Dhauladhar skies with their Para gliders.
