As a matter of fact, Bhutan is always considered to be one of the last unexplored angling spot in the Eastern Himalaya. For more than many decades, the tiny Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan had remained a mystery for many anglers or fishing lovers. Acually, fishing in Bhutan remains largely under-discovered and unspoiled angling hot spot for anglers but now slowly it’s getting explored to outsiders. As a general, our fishing spot in Bhutan are ranging from large stream level to crystal clear spring-fed streams. An elevation for angling in Bhutan is from a low of 1200 m to 3000m from sea level. In Bhutan, the most common varieties of fishes are the snow trout (belonging to the carp family), brown and rainbow trout (which has thrived since its introduction some decades ago) Usually, the perfect trout angling time in Bhutan is from spring season (March till May) and fall (September till November) rnrnWhile you are in Bhutan, you will be experiencing the unique joy of angling, in which many beautiful trout streams, rugged mountains and many cultural scenes which are dated back from 8th century onwards. Fishing in the crystal clear stream of Bhutan is totally breathtaking landscape and that is what every angler always dreams about. Using of live bait is strictly prohibited in Bhutan, although fly fishing and spin fishing is always permitted and fishes are released back into the river after catching it (Catch and Release basis) Catching of fish in any streams, rivers, ponds, or lakes canals, channels and dams in Bhutan are strictly forbidden without possession of a valid fishing license or permit. Fishing within one kilometer of monastery, temple, fortress or religious school is strictly prohibited. Fishing shall be prohibited during the 8th, 10th, 15th, and 30th of each Bhutanese month and other religious occasion. rnrnIf we travel further towards southern foothill of Bhutan (subtropical zone) we will come across with Golden Mahseer and Chocolate Mahseer. Zhemgang also known as of the best spot for birding. Usually, Golden Mahseer in Bhutan are found in rivers of Mangdechu in Panbang, Manas, Tingtibi under Zhemgang district, Gelephu under Sarpang district, Sunkosh river in Tsirang – Dagana and Nyera Ama Chu in Bhangtar under Samdrup Jongkhar district. Today, Bhutan’s rivers are considered to be one of the last remaining aquatic habitats for the Golden Mahseer population. Best angling time for Golden Mahseer and Chocolate in Bhutan is from last week of March till end of Ocotober. After last week of October, Golden Mahseer in Bhutan starts to migrate to warmer places in India. rnYou will have to bring your own gear or fishing tackle as there is no hire equipment readily available in Bhutan, though we can arrange it at additional cost. Day 1 : Arrive Paro – Thimphu
Once you landed at Paro International Airport, you will be met by our tour guide and then transfer to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. It will take you 60 minutes to reach Thimphu from Paro town or airport. Later in Thimphu, visit to Giant Buddha, Memorial Stupas, Takin Zoo (National Animal of Bhutan) and Tashichho Dzong(Giant fortress) Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
Day 2 : Thimphu - Punakha - Tsirang
Today, we will depart early for Punakha valley. Enroute to Dochu La Pass (108 Stupas) Stop for a panoramic view of Himalayan range from pass. Later descent down towards Punakha valley crossing mitsana and lobesa. Visit to Chimi Lhakhang temple(dedicated to Divine Madma) and Punakha Dzong(fortress) which is located between Pho Chu(male) and Mo Chu(female) river. After lunch we then drive towards Tsirang, where our today’s fishing spot is located, following Punatshangchu River at our left hand side, all the way from Bajothang. Today we won’t be fishing but we will make it everything ready for tomorrows fishing. Dinner and overnight stay at tent / camping.
Day 3 : Angling in Tsirang
Today, we will start our angling very early along the Sunkosh River and we will be spending whole day doing angling. Dinner and overnight stay at tent / camp.
Day 4 : Sunkosh(Tsirang)
Again, today also we will spend whole day angling along Sunkosh. Dinner and overnight stay at tent / camp.
Day 5 : Tsirang – Tingtibi
After early breakfast, we will depart for country side, Tingtibi village, where there is less settlement with basic infrastructures. Enroute to Tsirang – Damphu, Sarpang and then to Gelephu. After crossing, Tsirang, we then descent down till we reach stretch of Sarpangtar (plain) Upon reaching Gelephu town (nearest border town of India) we will climb uphill leaving Gelephu behind. We will stop for a while at immigration check point and continue towards Tingtibi. Dinner and overnight stay at tent / camp.
Day 6 : Tingtibi
Spend whole day fishing along Mangduechu river. Dinner and overnight stay at camp / tent.
Day 7 : Tingtibi - Panbang
Morning drive to Panang, Manas Natioanal Park. Spend whole day hunting Golden Mahseer or Chocolate Mahseer. Dinner and overnight stay at eco camp / tent.
Day 8 : Panbang
Today we will spend whole day hunting Golden Mahseer. Dinner and overnight stay at eco camp / tent.
Day 9 : Panang - Gelephu
Today we will drive back to Gelephu. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
Day 10 : Gelephu - Thimphu
Today, we will drive towards Thimphu via Tsirang district. If we come across any good place, we will stop for a photo. Evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
Day 11 : Thimphu - Paro
Today we will leave very early for Paro. Later hike to Tigers' Nest. It is expected to take about 3 hour hike till Tiger's Nest main monastery. Evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
Day 12 : Depart from Bhutan
Our team will transfer you to the airport for your onward journey. Your beautiful Bhutan Fishing Tour ends here!
