The ancient city of Ujjain in the state of Madhya Pradesh is considered to be one of the holiest cities of India. Originally called Avantika, this city has a lot to give to the cultural heritage of the country. Once regarded as the center of learning and cultural hub of central India, it has gained immortality after its mention in the works of the great Kalidasa. Situated on the banks of River Kshipra, Ujjain is the site for the triennial Kumbh Mela. Once in every twelve years, it hosts millions of devotees who take the opportunity to bathe in the holy waters and pay their offerings. Mahakaleshwar is another reason for the city to have tourists each year. A significant shrine for the Hindus, it is one of the only twelve Shiva temples of its kind across the globe. Surrounded by the Vindhya Range and on the Malwa Plateau, Ujjain has a unique landscape to fall.

Day wise Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival

On arrival in Indore proceed for a one-hour drive to Ujjain. Check in at the hotel and visit Chintaman Ganesh Mandir . Leave for the hotel to relax for some time. Visit Mangal Nath Temple and Kal Bhairav Temple and return. At night attend a spiritual lecture about Ujjain and Lord Mahakal. Stay overnight at the hotel after having dinner.

Day 2

Mahakaleshwar Temple

Harsiddhi Temple

Early in the morning get ready for Bhasmarti at Mahakaleshwar Temple. Later head to Harsiddhi Temple. Return to hotel have breakfast and rest for a while before proceeding for Shree Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga (three-and-a-half-hour drive). Have lunch in Omkareshwar and leave for Indore (two-and-a-half-hour drive) to head back to your destination.
