Chandratal means “Lake of the Moon”, it is a popular rekking destination in Himachal Pradesh. Chandratal Lake is perched at an height of 4250 m above the sea level. It is one of the easy to moderate level treks in Himachal. Chandra tal lake trek starts from Manali and the total trekking distance of this trek is 80 km.

Day wise Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival

The trip begins with our arrival in Manali, followed by a day full of rest and preparations for the days of trekking that lie ahead of us.

Day 2

Manali to Kunzum pass

Chandratal Lake

This day begind with an early morning drive from Manali to Kunzum pass where we will begin our trek towards Chandratal Lake. Once we reach our final destination, we get a briefing about the place and about the views around, including the peaks visible, followed by a bonfire and night stay in tents.

Day 3

Spiti Valley

This day we do explorations around the surrounding areas of the lake. Take short walks and hike to nearby meadows and indulge in the vast nothingness of Spiti Valley. You will find yaks grazing around and hopefully spot a heard of blue sheep and red fox if you fo far enough. In summer, you can try identifying the many flowers that bloom here, most of which have herabl properties. End the day with a bonfire to protect yourself from the unbeatable winds, followed by night stay in tents.

Day 4

Trekking back to Kunzum pass

After a heavy breakfast this day, we start trekking back to Kunzum La early in the morning. From Kunzum, we then drive back to Manali and spend the night reminscing about the adventures we had.

Day 5

Departure

The last day includes of optional exploration of places around Manali (with extra charges applicable) before departing back to Delhi/ Chandigarh in the evening.
