Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : SAIGON

You will meet your guide on arrival, transfer and check-in to your hotel. Formerly known as Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City is characterised by a vast array of sights and sounds, and is a fascinating blend of old and new, East and West.

  • Day 2 : SAIGON

Experience the hustle and bustle of old Saigon on a city tour and explore some of the city's more interesting sights, including the War Remnants Museum, the GPO, Notre Dame Cathedral and Reunification Palace. Visit the famous Cu Chi tunnels. This former Viet Cong stronghold provides an insight into the resourcefulness and tenacity of the Vietnamese people, as well as a unique sense of what underground life was like during the American War.

  • Day 3 : MEKONG DELTA

Today you’ll set off to explore the Mekong Delta. Board the boat to Ben Tre to see coconut candy factory and sample the local candies for which this region is famous. Take the opportunity to take a tuk-tuk around this remote village with a stop to sample tropical fruits and learn more about local rural life. Then visit a nearby restaurant in the heart of the delta, where you can sample some of the regional specialities such as the famous elephant-ear fish. After lunch, board sampans (small rowing boats) and paddle past the many water coconut trees that populate the Mekong Delta. Boarding our main private boat, cruise through more major waterways, arriving in My Tho town. Stop at Vinh Trang pagoda before travelling onto Can Tho.

  • Day 4 : HOI AN

Start early with a boat ride through Cai Rang Floating Market, where we’ll cruise among local barges full of fruits and vegetables and other local products. At the market you will visit local workshops to observe local food industries, including rice paper, coconut candy, pop-rice and popcorn production. Travel back to Saigon for your late afternoon flight to Danang. Transfer to Hoi An on arrival.  Built on the site of an ancient Cham village, Hoi An was a prosperous port from the 16th to 19th centuries trading with merchants from China, Japan, India, Indonesia and Europe who came to buy silk, spices and porcelain.

  • Day 5 : HOI AN

Experience the charm of Hoi An on a walking tour with your guide. Wander along the narrow lanes and gain an insight into Hoi An’s illustrious past as you explore this heritage listed town. Take in the old merchant houses and see the 400 year old Japanese Bridge, a unique covered structure built by the Japanese, and the only known covered bridge with a Buddhist pagoda attached to the side. Visit the Assembly Enjoy free time for the remainder of the day. There is plenty to see and do in Hoi An, but many visitors find themselves relaxing by the beach, browsing the markets and boutique shops, or visiting one of the many tailors in town

  • Day 6 : HOI AN

This morning, you’ll take part in a cooking class. Led by a Vietnamese chef, the class gives a fabulous insight into Vietnamese culinary skills in a friendly and relaxed setting. The tour includes a local market visit. Later, spend 2 hours leisurely cycling though the scenic countryside of Vietnam far from the traffic of motor scooters and the noises of the city. You will cross the islands on the Song Thu river delta using local transportation including ferries and floating bridges. This tour will take you on a visit to artisans making bricks according to age old traditions. Return to your hotel late in the afternoon. If you don’t wish to take part in this bike ride you can spend more time in the Hoi An old town.

  • Day 7 : HUE

Travelling by private van, head south through coastal rice paddies before traversing the spectacularly mountainous Hai Van Pass. After a brief visit to the beautiful China Beach (known officially as My Khe Beach), arrive at Hue. Visit a Buddhist nunnery or monastery for lunch. Not only does the lunch provide economic benefits to these institutions, which rely on donations to survive, but it also enables our clients to get an insight into the unique traditions and food of Vietnamese Buddism.

  • Day 8 : HUE

As the former imperial capital of Vietnam, Hue holds the treasures of Vietnam's royal past and is a curious mix of bustling streets and tranquil settings. Today you’ll enjoy a morning cyclo ride around the city of Hue and visit the UNESCO listed Imperial Citadel and the Thien Mu Pagoda, considered by many to be the unofficial symbol of Hue. For a late lunch enjoy a classic Hue meal of bún bò Huế, a popular Vietnamese soup containing rice vermicelli (bún) and beef (bò). We then enjoy a dragon boat cruise on the Perfume River and visit the royal tomb of Emperor Tu Duc, with its central lake set amid a grove of frangipani and pine trees, before heading back to Hue.

  • Day 9 : MAI CHAU

Fly from Hue to Hanoi and transfer to Mai Chau. The peaceful town of Mai Chau is situated in a stunningly beautiful valley surrounded by verdant green mountains and is famed for its breathtaking scenery and friendly hilltribe peoples. Take part in a short walk through the various ethnic minority villages in this spectacular area. Enjoy the local hospitality in a nearby village of Poom Coong. Our amicable hosts will cook you a fabulous home-cooked late lunch and there may even be a chance to sample some of the local rice wine produced in the region. Enjoy a traditional dance and musical performance put on by the local villagers. Return to your hotel in the evening.

  • Day 10 : HANOI

Today you’ll spend the morning interacting with the local villagers in Mai Chau before returning to Hanoi in the early afternoon. Showcasing sweeping boulevards, tree-fringed lakes and ancient pagodas, Hanoi is Asia’s most atmospheric capital. Just don't expect a sleepy ambience. It's an energetic city on the move, and Hanoi’s ambitious citizens are determined to make up for lost time. This afternoon visit the children of the Blue Dragon Children's Foundation in Hanoi.

  • Day 11 : HANOI

Accompanied by your guide, the day starts with a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, an imposing monument lavishly built using marble and granite, where the preserved body of “Uncle Ho” resides. See the lotus shaped One Pillar Pagoda, explore the Temple of Literature and visit the Museum of Ethnology which offers a fascinating insight into Vietnam’s 54 ethnic minority groups. Continue on to the Buddhist Tran Quoc Pagoda located beside the dazzling West Lake, visit Qu

  • Day 12 : HALONG BAY

Travel by private minibus to the spectacular World Heritage site of Halong Bay. Halong Bay is a breathtaking secluded harbour with 2,000 limestone islands rising from the emerald waters of Bac Bo Gulf. One of Vietnam's most scenic regions, this area of about 1,500 sq km is dotted with innumerable beaches and grottos, created over thousands of years by waves and wind. Board your junk and cruise among the dramatic limestone peaks. There's an opportunity to swim in the famed South China Sea as well as to explore caves filled with stunning stalactites and stalagmites. Spend a peaceful night on board, beneath a night sky alive with stars.

  • Day 13 : HANOI

Admire the beautiful scenery as the sun rises over the azure waters. Choose between an excursion to a secluded island with a sandy beach for a morning swim. Depart your boat at 11am and visit a pottery workshop on the trip back to Hanoi.

  • Day 14 : HANOI
